Strange. That’s the only song that I associate him with.
Can anyone enlighten me - genuinely would like to know
I’d say these are his best known here in the UK…

Apparently he sold something like 65 million records and only Elvis outsold him at the time. RIP Fats.
Last line of the obituary in the Guardian sums it up:
One of the few true giants of postwar American popular music, no one sounded like him, yet when you ask who he influenced, the answer is everyone.
A few weeks ago my mate Tony Dyke passed away after a bit of a scrap wth that cunt Cancer.
Tony and his brother Colin sat directly behind me in Block 12 for a fair few years and we had a right laugh following Saints at home, away and in Europe.
Tony was a top bloke. He was a stubborn fucker but he’d happily back down if you needed a pint;)
I will forever remember him:
A: Wearing white gardening gloves in winter and looking like Macel Marceau at St Mary’s.
B: Choosing a beer in Prague with all the airs and graces of a connoisseur but really just wanting a pint of London Pride.
C. Moaning to me at 4AM that his brother should stop drinking and go home
I work with my brother everyday and this impending funeral has made me realise how lucky I am to spend time with my brother. We used to beat the shit out of each other when we were younger but now I would die for him.
Grab your folks close and give them a kiss . ~They won’t be here forever.
Yesterday was All Saints Day and was “celebrated” with a holiday across much of Europe.
It was also the day that a true Saint passed away after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
All of you on here will have heard the stories or read the posts, and without doubt all of you will have formed your opinions of him some 8 or more years ago. But there is much more to be told.
St Lee as you would have known him on SaintsWeb was diagnosed with inoperable Pancreatic Cancer in 2016. He refused Chemo choosing instead of a small percentage chance of recovering to live a full “End of Life” programme and Fuck Cancer.
His regular updates on Facebook were inspiring, he continued working for as long as possible, he gave insights and updates on how Cannabis Oil worked and how it had helped him defy the Doctors who said he would be dead before April this year.
His great friend (St David) was his partner in business, creating a hugely successful start-up while flying by the seat of their pants. David took it upon himself to help make Lee’s End of Life Management a thing of hope, positivity and legacy rather than despair. Their daily FB updates of their (ultimately abortive) trip to swim with Wild Dolphins was both sad and hilarious at the same time.
Of course “forum posters” will only recall them as part of the “Glass of Chardonnay” crew, as dreamers and bullshitters, and most will have given them abuse at some point in history since those dark days of Rupert Lowe.
But the truth (as always) is stranger than the image. Those alcohol fuelled attempts at forum bravado actually were a minor spark in a chain of events that eventually led to the creation of a “business plan” that ended up in the hands of a Swiss Italian. It seems impossible to credit that today, but the story will one day be told in full and the actual architect of that plan (a former SFC employee) will get his recognition as hopefully will St Lee.
He was a true Saint. All Saints Day has been the day of his passing and like everything he did in the past 18 months it gave me cause to smile, if one of us has to pass on, then what better day to go?
St David was a true friend to him and I know that he is now in pieces out there in non-forum land.
Cancer now has 66% success rate on my friends who came into this year with it, the stories and their courage and the incredible efforts to raise over US$1 million for the disease that took his eye (Occular Melanoma) by the legend that is my old VP from my early multi-national days have changed my life and my lifestyle.
Today I just ask you to raise a glass to Lee Marchant. A true Saint in every way possible
RIP my friend, thankyou for the inspiration
Cancer truly is a cunt.
I met St Lee a couple of times. I know it’s ‘cool’ to point fingers and laugh at those taken in by aspirational visions, but he was a genuine honest down to earth guy who was just innocently supportive of anything that would help his beloved Saints. That is actually pretty cool in itself. What was not was the way he was relentlessly bullied off Saints Forever and it’s follow on incarnations by those who felt ridicule was a fair way to deal with their own inadequacies… and the way in which the mods just felt it was fair game and did fuck all… cunts
I am saddened to hear of his passing and wish nothing but the best for his family and friends at what must be a horrific time
RIP Lee
Sad to hear that Antonio Carluccio has passed away. Love his restaurants and his tv shows. RIP chef.
Never been to his restaurants but loved watching him on tv. Sad news but a good innings.
The name won’t mean much to many of you but downhill skier David Poisson has died in a trading accident. For the last 10 years we have been going to his mums restaurant in Nancroix during the ski season and have met most of his family including his two “little fish”
Really sad
Keith Baron of Duty Free fame has died. That really was a shit programme.
It was better than El Dorado TBF
Well I always thought its was a wife swap tease… wth classic Spanish waiter ‘gags’ thrown in for extra good measure… a true classic of British shit com culture IMHO…
Who? and What?
Never as good as a Liverpool match day thread though!!!
Hells Bells!!!
Less than a month after the passing of elder brother George from The Easybeats. AC/DC were a great live band, saw them a few times at the old Gaumont when it was always on any band worth their salt’s tour itinery. Saw some great acts there from the mid 70s to mid 80s. RIP Malcolm Young, and thanks for the memories.
Ah, the Gaumont. The cause of my ongoing tinnitus
