Apologies, my sources were slightly mistaken. It is the assistant referee (linesman) who has died. He’s the one they blame for the goal and he was quoted as saying:

I wonder if he was expecting to go to the heaven or hell of the deity of his choice? (assuming he believed in one)
Considering he made a fortune from brokering death and destruction, I am guessing he figured this was heaven on earth and wasnt too bothered about what happens after.
