Clyde Stubblefield - one of the most influential musicians there’s ever been, I’d suggest. RIP the funky drunmmer.

Actor Bill Paxton- always a good character actor…only 61

Father of the House

MP Gerald Kaufman has passed away aged 86

As he was still a sitting member this will mean another by election in the North West.

His seat is as safe as they come, not even Foot, kinnock and Callahan could dent the majority. Over to you Corbyn

Neil Fingleton, the UKs tallest man and Mag the Mighty in GOT has gone to meet his maker aged just 36.

A new app to allow the dead to keep on living

Picture yourself with the dead

That is grim

The Victorians used to dress and make up dead people and take pictures of them posed as if they were still alive (especially children)

:lou_surprised:

Southampton athletics coach Mike Smith.

Smith turned IwanThomas, Kriss Akabusi and Roger Black, plus many others, into world-beating runners.

I knew him a little thirty years ago, he was a world class coach - and a lovely bloke.

I know of the athletes but you hear little of the people that coached them many moons ago Condolences to his family and friends.

When it comes to court tell them you were disadvatanged because the 2x4 that you hit him with had been metricised and you didn’t realize the power that it had.

John Surtees has received his final chequered flag. He was my hero as a kid and still the only man to win the championship on two wheels and four wheels. RIP

That is sad.

I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions, he was a lovely bloke, a great role model for all racers.

Should have been Sir John.

Reunited with Henry.

Agreed. He did so much for motor sport and deserved a knighthood. I won a prize at school back in 1972 and John Surtees came along to hand them out so I got to shake his hand. A tragedy about his son.

As he hasn’t yet been mentioned, the artist Howard Hodgkin has died at the age of 84. Regarded by many as one of the greatest artists of his generation, yet rarely much in the spotlight.

A lot’s been written about his passing, but I particularly liked this appreciation by Jonathan Jones.

Jeez, thats sad, I worked with him as a 15 year old. Southampton and Eastleigh Athletics  Todd Bennett, Akabusi etc. I had good stamina but was never that good. I did win the schoolboys cross country for Hants … Really.

I was friends with several of the Sothampton & Eastleigh Athletics boys (The Draytons, Rog Kennedy et al) during the '70s. Mike Smith was as everyone says, a lovely bloke and hugely respected…reverential really…RIP Mike.
