We were scheduled for one of his concerts at Bournemouth Pavilion, booked before Covid hit. It was postponed several times, and eventually cancelled altogether. Would have loved to have seen him.
Yes, Lady Slowlane and I and several mates saw his comeback tour at The Festival Hall around 2002.
He was heavily supported by his backing group, The Wondermints who were fabulous.
Just a wonderful evening.
I saw them at Knebworth in 1980, topping a bill which included Santana, and Mike Oldfield amongst others. I remember it was a great day out, but some of the details are a little hazy now! I do remember my mates car breaking down on the way home which was a nightmare. Always loved the Beach Boys, genius is perhaps an over used word but not in Brian Wilson’s case. If I had to pick one song it would have to be Heroes and Villains, just amazing. RIP Brian Wilson, people with his talent don’t come around very often.
Mrs P_F had a Polish friend she had been in bands with.
He ended working for one of those types that never paid staff, fell off the grid while having a heart sttack.
She rallied the troops to get him home with donations, he kipped at ours for his last week in the sandpit.
He heard that the Beach Boys were playing a gig out in the desert, offered to drive us so he could at least sit in the car park and hear them as they had got him into music
So he drives.
I tell him to follow us so he knows where to meet us.
Just through here, just past this and here…
In the stadium obviously
He was in tears. Wonderful moment for him (and us)
Wonderful show
We got him home, he helped out as a DJ at ourvwedding here and passed a few years later.
It had been his dream to see them.
I did something right in life.
RIP Darek
RIP Brian
