Abu Dhabi Bob has passed away.

A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life and Works of Robert Andrew Joseph Churchhouse BSc., Chartered Accountant In England and Wales, late of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, who was called to God suddenly in Florida on 28th November 2023 aged 67, will take place on 11th May 2024 at 11am at St Thomas of Canterbury Chapel on the Exton Estate, Rutland.

A truly lovely guy and is survived by his wonderful wife Luci.

I met Bob in 2010 at the DP World Tour Championship. I’ve told the tale before, but he was two years older than me and dressed in exactly the same gear as Ian Poulter (who had hos own clothing brand at the time)

He introduced me to his mate Ian and others, set me up for the night of dreams in Abu Dhabi and we always had a beer or six over the years, Mrs P_F and I stayed over in Abu Dhabi with them - just a lovely ex pat couple.

Bob was also well known - met everyone who came over to the Embassy, he had one room fitted out as a shrine to Poulter, one wall with the photos with The Queen and other VVVIP’s
Just such a shock to find out today that he’s gone.
RIP Bob

These cheap shot attempts at jokes are in very poor taste.
We should think of his poor chikdren at this difficult time.

Condolences and love to Bart & Lisa

I used to sell Higgs Bosuns on Ebay. $300 each.

Very sad news indeed. I grew up watching ‘Deadly’, as a young teenager I spent a lot of my summer holidays in Canterbury at the St Lawrence ground watching Kent. Deadly was one of my all time sporting heroes, I watched him during his first season in the Kent first team when he was aged just seventeen, bamboozling experienced batsmen with his unique skills. He took over 100 wickets in that first season. These were the days of uncovered pitches, on a drying wicket he could be unplayable. Caught Knott bowled Underwood, what a combination they were. Barry Richards was renowned for giving spinners the charge to put them off their length, in his biography he said that Deadly was the only one he daren’t do it to.
RIP Derek, you were a true one off, thanks for the memories.

Good innings.

I loved Dickie Betts playing. Just passed at 80 years. Allman Brothers Fillmore albums…just epic.
Here he is in “top gear”…sorry.

That’s sad. I remember him from back in the day, great winger.
