Not now Darling!
I saw a photo of him a couple of weeks ago propped up in his hospital bed, it was pretty clear he didn’t have long. As you say, he was squarely in that camp, for many years too, he was being written off a couple of decades ago due to his liquid lifestyle so he did well. The maestro Keith Richards still going strong though, now when it comes to “how the fuck has he lasted this long” he’s in a class of his own! An example to hedonists everywhere.
They’ll be dancing in the streets of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam tonight. I don’t normally like to speak ill of the dead but I’ll make an exception in his case. A true war criminal, an evil and wicked man, good riddance. The world is a cleaner and purer place now that he is no longer in it.
15 March 1987 at the newly refurbished Mayflower Theatre.
Utter carnage!
RIP Shane MacGowan.
70 is a crappy age
I wonder how many years the financial crisis knocked off him
I was there too. I remember they asked people to stay in their seats and “No Dancing”. Absolutely no chance. As you say it was utter carnage, a brilliant night was had by all.
I ended up in the orchestra pit. How I didn’t get brained by chunks of flying chairs still baffles me.
Whoever booked The Pogues after the refurb needed their head wobbling.
RIP, Sticky Vicky.
I’d never heard of her until today. But a Vaginal Magic Show sounds absolutely fucking ace, and now, somehow, I’ve missed it.
Mentioned regularly by Donald and Jaqueline in the TV series Benidorm as I recall….
I hope his deity of choice has some words with him.
Bye bye, Thelma pet.
Denny Laine was a real nice guy.
I actually met him when he played a great gig in Dubai with World Classic Rockers - a group of Malibu 80’s stars who decided where they wanted to play golf then got their agents to arrange a gig.
They laid on an epic after party, we chatted about Linda & Paul and how many times he played Nights in White Satin.
The low light (for the few people left in the Bar at 4am was when he played Piano while Nick St Nicholas played Guitar & I sang Smoke on the Water with Fergie Fredricksen - lead singer with Toto)
One of those magic moments that the sandpit gave us instead of a Pension…
A really normal Dude wanting advice about the best places to shop and whether to play the Creek or Emirates Golf Course first
Nooooooo
Only the brewery. The beer will get made alongside all the other “bought up” beers in a modern, soulless brewery with no heritage, character or stories to tell. Sad days but an indication of where the whole industry is being forced with energy and raw material prices
This takes some courage …
