Andy Rourke has died. The Smiths were an integral part of my youth and I shall blast out the bass heavy Barbarism Begins at Home at full volume on my way home from work tonight in tribute.
Ii’s a goody. That, Rusholme Ruffians/His Latest Flame and The Queen is Dead are standout baselines for me.

Fucking brilliant author. I’ve got a few of his novels, I really must read them again.
On Saturday I took my old jalopy to the local village day. It got a fair bit of attention and I related the story of the woman previous owner, who bought the car new in 1958 and drove it daily for the next 49 years, in the Californian sunshine.
In my 15 years of ownership I’ve always kept in touch through the occasional phone call and christmas cards and a newsletter telling Betty the exploits of her “Baby” in the preceding year. Last week I called and for the first time got no answer.
When I got home from the Village Day, I received an email from her nephew John to tell me Betty had passed away a couple of months ago aged 98 and a Memorial Ceremony was being held that day in Berkeley to celebrate Betty’s long life with her friends and family. R.I.P. Dear lady.
Betty taught Watercolour in Berkeley for many years and to many of her former pupils Betty’s Black Karmann Ghia was a beacon to Betty painting a local scene nearby.
Maybe Paul Simon’s son knew Betty…

Indeed. The bird saw it, although she’d not had time to get her MGF dusted off for the occasion. And I was on the Regal Princess followed by the Mayflower, so didn’t get there at all.

Rolf Harris has tied down his last kangaroo. And sexually abused his last minor. In truth, both probably happened quite some time ago. No matter, he was a cunt and won’t be mourned.

Fairly solid performer without ever really hitting ‘star’ level, was quite looking forward his role in the Ahsoka series.

Mama G passed away early yesterday morning. Blessed relief to be fair. Cancer is a cunt.
