Bummer
Hi de hhhhhhh.
Uhm… Hi De Hi…up there with Last of the Summer wine and Mrs Browns Boys as truly shite comedy… but RIP
A very funny writer.
On Andrew Lloyd Webber…
There were those who considered him a plug ugly third rate tunesmith making a fortune from ripping off the classics. His critics however were less kind.
Bloody decent player
Yeah I had a little binge watch the other night, I think he certainly influenced the likes of Kayvan Novak and Charlie Brooker.
I have done so myself today/ Blimey, when you say Brooker was influenced by, didn’t realise you meant “ripped him off wholesale”.
How different is this to Screenwipe?
Best joke on that TV Offal
“We must go to the club. I’m a country member”
“Yes, I remember”
Terry Hall😟
Too much too young
Fucking hell
Hard to believe, and only 63. The first Specials album was a thing of wonder, and I remember the first airplay of Gangsters on John Peel as if it were yesterday.
Fuck me, this one hurts. Agree with Scotty, the first Specials album was very special indeed, still listen to it regularly. Their live rendition of ‘Enjoy Yourself’ (it’s later than you think) still has me dancing round the room, my daughter has instructions for it to be played at my funeral. He had a reputation amongst music journalists as a bit of an old carmudgeon, a difficult interview, but I met him once in the bar at Brixton Academy during a Blur concert my daughter dragged me along to, I got bored and went for a beer during their set and there he was sat in the corner of the deserted bar. I couldn’t resist thanking him for the pleasure he and his band had given me over the years and he was an absolute gent. RIP.
I went to see the Specials in the summer of 1979 at Bournemouth Winter Gardens - one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. SO5 4BW, my brother and I ended up dancing on stage with the band, along with a fair few other audience members. Absolutely fucking brilliant.
RIP Terry.
And Martin Duffy of Charlatans & Primal Scream gone
