Was he responsible for us playing a season with no shirt sponsorship? I’m not imagining that am I? I’m sure it happened but can’t remember the ins and outs of it.
From what I have read Corseseas record on shirt sponsership and other commercial income was one of the worst in the league. Its probably why he voted against FFP. Either he wasnt very good at it or he didnt think it was worth trying as we were so far behind other clubs and we couldnt make up the ground down that route.
I think that was deliberate wasn’t it? To celebrate the anniversary etc with the white shirt with red sash?

No idea…but its not unreasonable to assume he fucked up, but then again we all do at times,so perhaps natural we assume this. However, there is also the issue of ‘Brand value’- we were ambitious and entering into a contract at L1 or Champ level tied in for a minimum number of years when we could get promoted, could see us sell that sponsorship for less than its worth?
Yes, that was the story. Clearly, IMO, bollocks. I reckon he fucked it up and then came out with that bullshit.

Inestment is a wonderful thing AG, but if you are answerable to someone else to sign off on whatever you do, you need them onside. The impression I got listening to the interview was that he wanted to run things his way and that was that. No matter what their relationship was like, I dont think you would find many owners who would be that careless about the company chequebook. Didnt she have to restructure a loan he arranged because she managed to get better terms? My lasting impression of Cortese is of a snake oil peddler, but instead of snake oil he sold a dream of Champions League football.
Perhaps he is right? Perhaps he is a football exective genius? But then why has no one on the planet been tripping over themselves to hire him since he left us?

When they said they had callers lined up I was hoping for some of those questions, but they only let one caller through and he was a bigger arse licker than Jim White.
I’m just going to throw this out there… I think we should move on from girls name Cortese. We have bigger and more important matters to discuss.
Like how to distract the away fans at half time, long enough to switch the goalposts to a set at least three times the regulation size, without them noticing or bringing it to the attention of the referee. Our goal scoring problems MIGHT then be a thing of the past.

How about “Clappers” I like 'em!
I have always made a lot of noise at a football game…sing, shout, hurl abuse at referees and early leavers…generally have a good time. There are other’s unfortunately, who sit there and say fuck all during the game. Nothing bar a two minute hattrick will enthuse them into a reserved, hurrah but give them a “Clapper” they’ll happily break their silence and join in with the more vocal.
Yes they’re fuckin’ annoying…let’s hope the opposition find them annoying too. So leave the clappers alone…at least they’re making a noise.
