China has approved the use of bear bile to treat critically ill coronavirus patients.
The National Health Commission has recommended the use of Tan Re Qing - an injection that contains bear bile, goat horn and herbs - to treat patients with Covid-19.
But there is no evidence the mixture has any medicinal value.
Bear bile, which is produced in the liver and stored in the gall bladder, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years and fetches a high price in the illegal international market.
The move to approve its use has angered animal rights activists and comes just weeks after the country banned the sale of wild animals for food.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has told security forces they should shoot dead anyone causing ātroubleā in areas locked down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
About half the countryās roughly 110 million people are currently under quarantine - including millions in deep poverty, left jobless by tough restrictions on movement.
Hours before Duterte gave the order in a speech late Wednesday, nearly two dozen people from a slum community in the capital Manila were arrested for holding a protest that accused the government of failing to provide food aid to the poor.
āMy orders are to the police and military, also village officials, that if there is trouble or the situation arises that people fight and your lives are on the line, shoot them dead,ā Duterte said.
āInstead of causing trouble, Iāll send you to the grave,ā he said, adding that the outbreak is getting worse more than two weeks into the lockdown.
Well nobody at home has quoted me that yet. So could be fake news, but the wife has said that the lockdown at present until 15th is likely to be extended for at least another month.

Little bit of googling. This is something that has been used for decades and is now often synthetic bear bile.
I donāt think any animals should be used in medicine or food but I think it is worth checking out stories.

Today he released a little video on Twatter with a message to the nation, i quote - " I want to say a special word about testing, because it is so important, and as i have said for weeks and weeks, this is the way through".

I canāt recall where that particular quote came from but it has been widely reported (bbc, mail, National geographic) that China have approved bear bile as a covid treatment

Interesting that Polish Government has jumped the gun on the WHO.
Masks are now mandatory out in public. (As are gloves)
They are also available in shops & pharmacies.
Which begs the question how can it be so hard to get them to NHS Staff delivery drivers & retail staff in the UK?
I assume none of Borisās mates deal in them (or test kits)
