:covid_19: 😷 šŸ„ Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ā“

The logical step is strict quarantine enforced by the army. Is that what people want? Would you all say well done Boris, great move? Or would it be !Boris is overreacting and it’s a right wing conspiracy to take away civil liberties.

Bermuda are doing alright as well

Yes, but doing things differently to Cuba, just ask those British tourists stuck on a ship how their call for help was ignored by all commonwealth places but answered by Cuba and just look at the response(have already posted and looking like absolutely no one read).

Let’s have another attempt at humour(no reading involved).

What did he say about the Labour Party? Dither and delay, wasn’t it.

I’m politically freestyling at the moment but I will remark that once again, when the shit really hits the fan, you need socialism to bail you out.

And guess what, if we’d been practising socialism, we’d be in less shit right now.

Cuba. People who are.
Corbyn. Someone that would.
Cunts. Do i have to explain.

ā€˜Not as urgently’ is being too kind. Nobody knows what our government will do next, the PM is winging it, reactive instead of pro active. Yesterday, ā€˜we can send this virus packing in 12 weeks’, today, social distancing measures will likely last for a year. He is clueless, making it up as he goes along. Watching him you can see the panic in his eyes, most of what he says is meaningless waffle. For at least two weeks the Italian and Spanish have been imploring us to lock down and massively step up testing, otherwise what is happening there will be happening here. Pretty much alone in the world we have been ignoring this, sticking to our own strategy of ā€˜herd immunity’. Until a few days ago when the penny dropped and they realized that this would result in possibly 250,000 deaths. Then the panic sets in, desperately u turning, even reduced to telling the bare faced lie that ā€˜herd immunity’ was never their strategy. Even though Johnson stood in the middle of his two scientific experts as they spelt out to the media that that was exactly their strategy. Hancock last week telling us on Question Time that the government were in discussions with the supermarket industry to work out a strategy for keeping the nation fed… That was immediately called out as a bare faced lie by supermarket chains, saying that they have had no contact with the government whatsoever. This Prime Minister and his minister’s default position when asked an awkward question is to tell a lie. Never mind that it is a stupid lie, one that they must know will be exposed as such immediately. But they don’t care, our MSM let them get away with it. At a time like this we deserve better.

Where’s Intiniki? I hope she’s OK., must be a really stressful time for her.

I think you might be missing the point that I feel some are making.

If we are to end up with troops on the street, then why not do it sooner? It’s not the measures, it’s the pace and knee-jerk style I see others critiquing.

Everything they have been forced to do seems to have been half measure after half measure and behind the majority of the rest of the world.

IF I were to venture a conspiracy, it would be that by drip-feeding these things and announcing them with Boris Shouldhaveactedsooner standing in front of two Union flags, his advisers are a) evoking and channelling Churchill, b) making us feel more and more dependent on the government and c) continually reinforcing how helpless we are to change things.

C) above is a critical one as those that have analysed Putin and Trump’s communication style say that making us feel simultaneously angry and powerless is/was key to putting/returning them in/to power.

Good job I’m not a conspiracy theorist.

I think we are in a situation where we are slowly being nudged along

If we had gone to the army on the streets a month ago I genuinely believe most of the public and media would have lost their shit.

The message that has crept into the narrative in the last couple of days is 12 weeks - we are being prepped for this reality

I suspect it will be longer and more severe and we will be told when they reckon we are ready to hear it without completely melting down.

I’m not sure Boris can win in a situation like this

A couple of points(at least as i see it).

This is wrong. The number is absolute worse case scenario bullshit and by believing it you induce the
what they want.

From then on, couldn’t agree more and this is what people need to remember, as the very thing that might be the problem in this minor virus was starkly pointed out in the 2016 simulation(that they ignored).

Anyway more bollocks from the pros.

University of Nottingham shares 16 more testing kits, which can deliver 20,000 tests per day, many of which were being used in research. Collected and being delivered by the Army.

Interesting talk and quite prophetic from 4 years ago.

Yeah, I was using the troops as an illustration but if we both agree that the troops on the street early would have been a bad idea, then what about the tube network?

I can’t go to the Steam Town for a couple after work, but the tube network in London has been running normally? Is that still the case?

I’m with you there - although getting truly draconian powers during these troubles and having an 80+ majority could be construed as winning by some of the cunts on the right.

Fine for breaching Quarantine here has just trebled to £6,000.
That is just about an annual salary for many people.
THAT is serious shit.

Brother in law believes he has COVID-19 (don’t think he’s had that confirmed though).

He was skiing in Italy 9 days ago. Only got 2 days on the slopes before they shut the resort and he was sent home early to self-isolate for 14 days.

Three days ago he came down with all the symptoms and has been in bed away from others in the house ever since.

This is real.

Did you miss the word ā€˜possibly’?

Prophetic or planned?
You can guess where the way it’s been played leads me.
If i wasn’t already pissed i’d be able to remember where to find the speech that mentions the event(the one they simulated last year) that they’d use.

How do you do your job from home?

Nah, just ignored, a bit like our media

I don’t, I’ll be doing it at the hospital.

Quite. 80% of my work is for cruise ships and theatres/clubs etc, so that’s me fucked. :rage: Plus I wonder just how many private customers are still going to want me to make house calls to them… :rage: :rage:
No work = no money.
