You posted a link to an article in which an article in the Guardian was being accused of downplaying the level of lethality of the 1918-19 pandemic. In the original Guardian article an estimate of 2.5% was mentioned as the lowest level of such estimates. Nobody really knows the lethality rate of that virus. All numbers are estimates, both numbers of infections and numbers of deaths caused by it.
A single article in a single newspaper, that doesnât even say definitively that the mortality rate of the 1918-19 virus was 2.5%, is scarcely a revision of history.
So, this was the figures in the article when it was first written in 2004 :-
The âââSpanish Flu Pandemicâââ (also known as the âââGreat Influenza Pandemicâââ, the âââ1918 Flu Epidemicâââ, and âââLa Gripeâââ) was an unusually severe and deadly strain of [[influenza]], a [[virus|viral]] [[infectious]] [[disease]], that killed some 25 million to 40 million people (possibly significantly more) world-wide in [[1918]] and [[1919]]. It is thought to have been the most deadly [[pandemic]] so far in human [[history]], killing more people than the [[Black Plague]] or [[AIDS]].
25 to 40 million deaths, doesnât give a number as to how many were infected world wide.
current article states
17 to 50 millions deaths and possibly as high as 100 million (out of 500 million infected)
In fact itâs the old article that states global morbidity was 2.5% of the population with 20% infected
I share your concern about imposition of special powers, particularly with no vote in parliament taking place. But if the reaction of our government is stage managed, then theyâve picked the worst director in the world to do it. Their response has appeared bumbling and uncertain, which is hardly what Iâd expect if the whole thing were being stage managed.
Itâs been accepted for decades that itâs between 10-20%.
The guardian journalist in question even wrote a book saying so. I also posted about Wikipedia revising the figures.
Donât you find the timing strange?
Itâs hardly strange that a lot of articles about the 1918-19 pandemic are being published, nor that comparisons are being drawn between the current pandemic and that one. I donât see some all-encompassing plan behind it all, just authorities in different countries trying to deal with it, with varying levels of success. If there is indeed a great plan in play (which presumably invovles the governments of a large number of countries, many of whom are scarcely on friendly terms with each other, and also extends to changing Wikipedia), then what is its ultimate goal?
The generally accepted figures were 50-100m out of 500m infected.
I donât know about the old article, but i donât look at Wikipedia as it is constantly edited, but if you look into Spanish flu 50-100m are the accepted figures.
Comparisons are fine. Rewriting the death toll not so much.
I have no idea why itâs being so over played, but the money the fed have been pumping in to try to save the financial sector canât go on. Then again it could just be power hungry people taking the opportunity to grab more.
The fear seems massively out of proportion and the powers to much and for far too long. We know they always use any opportunity to fuck us over and a bit of fear seems to get people clamouring to give their rights away.
Iâve just shown you the revisions for the WikiPedia article where the estimates of the death toll have actually gone up from when the original article was written, in fact the current article agrees (broadly) with the figures you statedâŠ

False reports of tanks and troops in the UK
Social media and WhatsApp in Britain are buzzing with pictures and videos of troops and tanks, purportedly showing them moving in and around London - you may have received the images too. But the pictures are not what they seem, report our colleagues.
One image shows military vehicles driving along a road, and some people on social media claim itâs showing preparations around London. But the vehicles are driving on the right-hand side of the road. The photo first appeared on online in Ukraine earlier in the week and are at least three days old â they only surfaced on British social media accounts yesterday.
In another photo, which appears to show tanks under covers, the number plates arenât British.Emergency planning is taking place in the UK but beware rumours circulating online. The Telegraph reported that the capital might be locked down âby the weekendâ. Ministers say that there are no plans to do this at the moment but Boris Johnson said he would ârule nothing outâ when asked about a possible London shutdown.
As always, be cautious about what you see on social media and WhatsApp.
