I get that things may have been expensive at outset but the total write off figure beggars belief.
It’s bad but a few things are in play here - kit going past it’s use by as well as the fact we had to overpay to secure it
What is the correct price for a mask when twenty people want to buy it
When you consider that there were reports of PPE getting gazumpped on the runway, then I am not surprised

Just read that the UK reported 847,000 new cases on Monday - WTF??
And I am still fucking positive FFS. Covid can fuck the fuck off now.
I think this is due to accumulated reinfections being added to the dataset
aha - sort begs the question why they were not added in the first place
That would make the risk of omicron hospitalising and killing people even less that previously assumed.
Maybe the Danes are on the right track now. No restrictions and no requirement to isolate even if you have it
I saw data a few days ago showing that the majority of “covid” patients in hospital are now those admitted for something else who then tested positive (all patients are covid tested on admission).
This is the problem when you mix medicine and politics and slogans
The situation changes.
So now “political statements” made in the 1st wave just look stupid.
Omicron is nasty, but it is less serious/fatal. So clearly comparisons with old metrics are worthless
Next winter may be totally different again
