Herd immunity figures, are around 60-65% or so as I have seen… but key is to have all who are potentially at high risk of hospitalization and death to be included in that percentage

the good news is that with the AZ/OX vaccine, it reduced hospitalisations to zero in the group after one dose… but for how long?

Apparently it’s thought to be pretty good so far…the test are still ongoing of course.

Yep efficacy looks really good. The key will be getting 12 months cover as it were so going forward at worst its an annual booster, which can then be targeted more effectively… we won’t get that data for another 6 months or so, but signs are good.

Encouraging, but also note that it was tested against a Lab modified strain with only 1 mutation.
There are still concerns mainly with the SA strain having many mutations, and still EVERYONE Hope’s it does work.
A 6 month delay for a modified jab could be an utter disaster globally

The really worrying thing is that democracy is supposed to be a release valve and it just isn’t. That’s how the Yanks got Trumped.

Apologies to lifeintheslowlane, I know he usually posts the Dr Campbell’s updates, but someone sent me this earlier and I’ve just watched it. There are clearly worrying times ahead, he is clearly very concerned about the situation.

Yes I watched it about an hour ago…He says tomorrow’s briefing on the ongoing progress of immunity and the Vaccination programme will strike a more positive note. The future looks brighter although not the immediate future.

Future also depends on the rest of the planet getting vaccinated.

That ain’t going so well at the moment…

But good to see the RAF helping out

As expected our 2nd vaccination dose has been cancelled.
Thankfully we are a very cautious household so hopefully won’t be an issue.
Inadvertently a guinea pig.

Yes I shall watch him tomorrow. He really does have a gift of explaining things in a simple way, cutting through all the bullshit. Let’s hope his optimism about the future is right, although the next month at least is going to be very difficult. Today’s death figures are shocking enough, 1,325, but it looks like we ain’t seen nothing yet. Government Sage are warning that these figures will keep rising for around five weeks or so, that’s providing lockdown is adhered to which opens another can of worms.
ā€œEven if we vaccinated all over-80s today we would not see a change in the death rates for five weeks or so, and it will not impact on hospitalisation for a long time afterwards, ( when the over 60s have been vaccinated. It is impossible to overemphasise the seriousness of the current situation. We are in a much worse position than we were in March.ā€

So five weeks of K1+ deaths a day for five weeks, and logic dictates it will surely be higher. Todays figures reflect people who caught the virus when infections were running at 30,000 a day. Today it’s nearly 70,000, and likely to rise. We can all do the maths.

Yep you see the figures and it’s not easy to stem the anger and this has happened for months now. How can this scenario be played out again with out calling to mind Albert Einstein’s supposed famous line: ā€œInsanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.ā€
Only this time the results are far worse. :lou_facepalm_2:

That’s just over the other side of the Forest from us. :grimacing:

We’ve had over 3000 positive tests in last 7 days and 1128 in 100000.

My friend told me about a delivery driver for a large shopping chain who had a cough and temp. He went off to get a test. But work place also had some tests. That was negative so the boss wanted him in. Just before he headed off to work he got the nhs positive test back. Phew.

This lock down doesn’t feel like the others at all. The schools seem busier when I call them.

Talking to families they’ve been going all over the place to stay with that member of family etc.

I’ve seen police reports about parties too.

In tier 4 times I saw many people meeting up in larger groups especially parents with kids meeting up with friends. They’d arrive up in Epping Forest in their Range Rovers and pretend they weren’t meeting up.

Palestinians living in Israel proper are covered, but those in the areas under Palestinian Authority (i.e. the Occupied Territories) will fall under that government’s vaccine plan. From what I’ve read it is far less well funded and organised than the Israeli rollout.

Just been out for a daily bit of exercise in a local park. It was busy and people who have met up with their buddy are not keeping to the 2 metres distance. They had cordoned off the gym area but some guy decided he wanted to do some chin ups. There were several groups of more that 2 people who really weren’t living in the same house. The skate park had a lot of red tape around it but we couldn’t work out if it had been torn down in part of just taping off the benches around it. The children’s play area was rammed.

We won’t be going back anytime soon. We are going to find some other walks nearby.

We also did wear our masks whilst in the park. A first.

This time around I think it is too relaxed still.

Here is an interesting fact which will shed some light on the futility of trying to get our dickhead populace to follow the rules

During the WW2, when the blitz was raging and the chances of being blown to bits at home was only too real, the govt made 925k prosecutions for failure to adhere to black out procedures

The human race has been fucking stupid for ever

It makes you wonder how we ever progressed from chucking spears and chasing our dinner
