Iāve been wanting to see some stats on this. Where are people picking up Covid? I am aware of one person in one of the offices in March getting it and died. Another person in another building had it but theyād not actually been in the office. So it wasnāt there. Iāve not heard of anyone in my building getting it.
Iāve seen one local pub landlords get it, one hospitalised but no info on whether half the patrons got it.
The two people I know who definitely had it in March were both NHS workers and got it at work (not surprising) and one said it did the rounds in her office after one of the guys came in coughing everywhere.
The managing partner in my firm has ālongā Covid. Got it just after lockdown. Hasnāt recovered and will be out for the long term.
Other than that, I had all the āsymptomsā, got tested and it was negative.
My youngest got tested at the same time and had a false positive. He wasnāt well either.
Wife & daughter weāre fine - Draw your own conclusions. Probably just flu?
I genuinely donāt know anyone else who has been affected.
Iām not one of those who donāt think it isnāt an issue though btw - just sharing. Am sure @Goatboy can share some hospital horror stories.
Twat Hardley rules
Yeah, I started in '95 - so 20 or so years difference!
Hardley educated you mean? A school so shit they had to rebrand it as the New Forest Academy?
But the looks you get at job interviews when you say " I am Hardley educated" is a thing to behold
The issue I have with these stats is how can they be certain?
If I get Covid who is to say it came from the office / pub / neighbours / west quay / gun wharf (likely)
It sounds like they are calculated on the basis of probability which isnāt an exact science
That said you have to start somewhere I guess
This is true. Eg, patients getting it in hospital but probably getting it from nurses who picked it up at home from kids who got it at school.
London going into Tier 2 on Saturday
Well, an effective track and trace system would make things pretty reliable.
When my work colleague tested positive he was asked for all his movements back to about 2 weeks before he started feeling poorly. Place, times etc. etc.
Now if he could remember these then they would have all been cross referenced with other peopleās movements and they could come up with a 99% reliable answer of when you crossed paths with someone who had it and passed it on.
My main issue with this is you have to remember where you were, what you were doing etc, I canāt remember what I was doing yesterday let alone 2 weeks ago.
Also, if you cross paths with more than 1 person (chances are slim, current high rates are 200 in 100,000 people, about 1 in 500 people) who do they decide gave you it.
Using my logical programmerās brain I can see how it should work, unfortunately there is a lot of human error to get in the way.
Now if only there was an app we could all download and run on our phones that would give us this information, I mean 90% of the population have got to have a compatible smartphone, havenāt they?
stay the fuck out of the new forest you unclean bastards
How will the pandemic be āgone for goodā? Itās a pathogen that will always be present and like all pathogens goes through cycles of infection above and below the R rate of 1.0, depending upon who has had it and who hasnāt. If the answer is to close everything up until it disappears, then nothing will reopen as it will remain closed forever.
I agree with you that what is needed is common sense from individuals whilst we are in a phase that is threatening to get out of control in terms of overwhelming the current availability of healthcare provision for those in the vulnerable categories. Pictures of revellers having a party in the street after the boozer closes donāt help with general perceptions, but are far away from being representative of the vast majority of the general population, who, it seems, are quite sensible in their actions and considerations for others. Well, they are from what i have seen, anyway.
Elmbridge where me and @WorzelScummage live going to Tier 2 from midnight Saturday- the only place Iām Surrey
Edit: When I say where we live - I donāt mean together- just for the record like.

Cobham, donāt be like that - Iāve got no problem with people knowing about us.
In better news, Iām about 1 mile into Runnymede, so sorry bud, sucks to be you.
I have visions of people digging up county signs and moving them 200 yds down the road
