:covid_19: đŸ˜· đŸ„ Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

Driven is a bit of a weird choice of words, sort of suggests the Government has forced people out, no-one has been forced to go to these places, however I get what your saying

First day my local opened one of the regulars was there shaking peoples hand and hugging people despite being told he couldn’t. Apart from outliers like him the “older” generation were pretty much keeping themselves to themselves but the “youngsters” were in big groups, obviously all from different households.

I think, generally, because the “younger” generation have been told they are less likely to die from it, or even get bad symptoms, they are being more complacent
that’s just my observations from seeing people in the wild!!

It’s a fine balancing act between getting the country running again and keeping people “safe”, at the end of the day the government has pretty much put it down to trusting people’s decision making

Eat out to help out was fucking rammed all the time.

They’ve been saying for months that it’s safe for young people to back to school. Irrespective of what’s happening now, what message do you think that sends to young people? That it’s NOT safe?

Driven is exactly the right choice of words. These events were driven by government policy.

The response to the pandemic by the government has been shambolic from the start, without getting started on their naked corruption. It’s said that every crisis like this is seen as an opportunity by the unscrupulous, and this lot have really filled their boots. We are now starting to pay the price. So far 10 billion of public money has been given to private companies, owned and controlled by friends and donors to the Conservative Party for a track, test and trace system. Some of them with no record or expertise in such a system. A further 15 billion has been doled out for PPE, much of which turned out to be non existent or unfit for purpose. All without going out to tender. Track and trace is an absolute joke, someone the other day who lived in Brighton who required a test after showing symptoms was told to go to Oldham for a test. Hancock stood up yesterday and announced that no-one would have to travel more than 75 miles for a test. As if this was some kind of achievement, seventy five miles FFS! Pitiful. Yet Hancock’s friend from the Jockey Club, Dido Harding, who is in charge of running this shit show is rewarded with a new contract and evermore money.
The contracts for PPE are even worse. 15 billion spunked so far, including a 2 million pound contract to a consultancy owned by two young guys hired by Cummings as ‘forecasters’, registered assets of 100 pounds and no employees. Lux Lifestyle Ltd, with no employees or experience awarded a 25 million contract. Aventis Solutions Ltd, a recruitment company with net assets of only 322 pounds given 18.4 million. PestFix Ltd, with assets of just 18,000 awarded a contract for more than 108 million. And on and on and on. Some of them registered in Mauritius and the Cayman Islands, none of the contracts going to tender, most of them with direct and indirect links to the government, the Tory Party and Downing St.
It was agreed in the contracts to set prices “at the height of demand for products” - which meant that we would have been paying 70p for a simple surgical mask even four weeks later when the prices had dropped to 15p. It has been estimated that at least half of the 15 billion spent on PPE has been wasted, and the 10 billion for test and trace, most of it. But hey, it’s only public money, fill yer boots!
If this was going on in an Eastern European or African state we would be calling it what it is, ie corruption and our leaders would probably be screaming for sanctions to be slapped on.
Lets face it, we are being led by what is effectively a mafia type criminal cartel, diverting huge public sums of money to their friends and backers, in plain sight. There is no accountability, no transparency on who, why and how these contracts are awarded, they steadfastly resist all calls to do so.
Third World countries with barely functioning health systems have made a better fist of dealing with this crisis than our country has. It is shameful, an absolute fucking disgrace.

If you had put the PPE contracts out to tender - they would still be reviewing the submissions

But that’s not the point here is it. Billions of public money being handed out to a select few, many of them not remotely qualified to receive it, much of it wasted on sub standard and unfit for purpose products. With no accountability, no transparency. Are you seriously trying to excuse and defend this shithousery? They are pissing on you and telling you it’s raining.

I wish I was.

No - billions were wasted, more than you will ever realise

But the normal rules of procurement were suspended

However I don’t believe this is a simple case of sorting out your mates with a nice bung

Take PPE - the instruction to everyone was get whatever you can from wherever you can, fuck the cost. If I got that instruction, the first thing I would do is call everyone I knew and if I got a bite, I’d place an order. Would I fuck up one or two orders? Yep. Would some of the stuff not materialise? Yep. Would some of my mates get some cash? Probably if they said they could deliver.

Sorry CB, but where are the expected proportion of ‘getting it right with the correct suppliers? There is a complete dominance of ‘mates’ and folks filling their boots without any scrutiny which is simply corruption and is despicable, but it’s OK because the selfish Criminal cunts will show how good they are by telling Brussels to fuck off and show their big bollocks irrespective of whether it’s good or bad for UK and get Brexit done
which a whole swathe of folks will somehow think makes everything else he does acceptable

I’m not going to disagree with you but I also think that people have to take a bit more responsibility for their actions
recently there has been an air of complacency by people, maybe because the infection rate was coming down, maybe because they think all the people that were going to die from C-19 have died.

Look at other countries and we are, again, following them in the graphs and infection rates, maybe it’s more testing, maybe it’s people not being careful when they should be but something is obviously being done wrong.

Rammed pubs during EOTHO was not good, but equally it was down to the pubs and restaurants to make sure they had “covid secure” environments and to not let in too many people.

This government have handled the whole C-19 thing wrong from the start but that doesn’t exonerate the population and their behaviour (and I am probably as guilty as the rest).

That may well be true, but it’s also true that @Nottarf-Krap’s assertion that they’d doled out cash to people with no fucking experience whatsoever in this critical field at this critical time, and the government has previous. Remember the ferry company that had never done ferries before.

You’ve alwaus kept me honest. I’m doing the same here.

This is not party political, In fact, I probably have slightly more respect for the Tories because at least you see a couple of mad outlier cunts spouting what eventually becomes mainstream policy. Labour pretend to be something else.

But make no mistake, I think both parties are full of cunts and the need for something else has never been more apparent.

The truly depressing thing is that as constituted, our political system simply doesn’t allow us to conjure it.

Sorry MoT but could you please keep separation between Brexit and C-19, I understand the point your making but it’s not helpful

So you would rather we ran a full procurement process with full vetting of suppliers and full testing of samples etc?

If so, you wouldn’t have got one gown, mask or anything else delivered

I was saying to someone the other day that we should have gone into a war cabinet and had the country run by a coalition government, how feasible that would have been is questionable.

Doesn’t help that the blonde buffoon in charge appeared to have been basing policy on what a civil servant was saying.

Granted - contracts were awarded to companies with no experience - but so much cash was being thrown around there was always going to be fuck ups

Why does it have to be one or the other? Surely a basic check like ‘has this company got any experience in the field?’ ‘Does it have the staffing capacity?’ ’ Does it have 3 years fucking tax receipts?’

I think it’s very relevant to the discussion on corruption. He and his cronies can get away with what would be unacceptable precisely because half the country don’t care what he is doing, having placed all their ‘faith’ in him
they are letting him get away with what the guck he likes because of one reason only
that he will deliver us from the the fucking Cylons

You can’t separate this as it’s empowered him to piss all over everyone
with the Brexit bunch simply opening their mouths

Which coincidentally had close links with certain members or associates of the Tories.

It’s naked corruption, and we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg.

This is what was discovered.

No, I would rather the stupid cunts had not stopped the regular replacement of PPE and materials in cost cutting measure before the pandemic, and then made at least some effort not to line the pockets of every currupt cunt curing up to take the piss
you can’t expect 100%, cleanliness, but you can at least expect them to try

Yep - I agree. Then again if your back was against the wall, had an unlimited budget and someone offered you a glimmer of hope, you might just grab and hope for the best
