Fuckin’ Bertrand gets one back…pays us back for the first Costa goal.
Bertrand!
Game on…
I’m pissed off now
Why? What’s wrong?
Fatso, now leave Steve alone. He’s a bit upset and doesn’t want to play at the moment.
They are creaming themselves on the post-match chat on Sky. They only got 4 as we had to open the game up to have a chance of getting something from it.
Got very little from the ref as usual but we didn’t win enough in midfiled and gave the ball away too easily.
I dont think Puel is up to the job of taking the team to challege the top 6. If the rumers are true that he isnt settled we should let him go. With the new owners we can try again for a new manager. There is great football at times but the cock up in defense is baffleing. Its not popular but Silva would suit me for a replacment. Fortress St Marys with a team of fighters
It’s ok. It all part of our plan to stop Poch winning the league!
Right then, analysis time. Stick with me because it’s gunna be better than Sky’s Chelsea wank fest.
I’m going to start with a question - ‘what have we learned?’
The short answer is ‘not a great deal’ in my opinion. We played well in spells in the first half but I couldn’t really identify a clear game plan. This has undoubtedly been a regular theme against the top six teams this term. Other than a few nicely worked set pieces we didn’t threaten much. We created very little from open play all even. Too many backwards passes and too slow, allowing Chelsea to always have men behind the ball.
It appeared to be our usual possession based approach and we allowed ourselves to be counter attacked by quality players again - just like against Man City.
The first goal was poor. First Cedric not stepping up and then nobody picking up Hazard. Crazy considering we had at least 5 men to their 2. Costa being the other one. Whether that is a midfielder’s responsibility or not (Tadic was tracking back but held his position rather than following the danger man) I don’t know but what I do know is that Stephens can see this happening but doesn’t go towards and close Hazard, instead he retreats to cover the near post for some reason. Bearing in mind Hazard was the ONLY other Chelsea player in the attack. I therefore question his positioning. I don’t want to start digging players out but I must admit I don’t see the same bright future for him that others on here do. He is 23 not 19.
The second goal was what happens when VVD is not there. No DOMINANT attack of the ball.
Same goes for the third goal. Costa’s reputation got the better of Bertrand who should have concerned himself more with the ball rather than wrestling with Costa.
The fourth goal…fuck knows where to start with that one. Half arsed attempts to win the ball back and Costa actually stands still with it for a few seconds.
Overall I am a little worried that Puel is Wenger in disguise. It would make sense given their connection. Too fixated on his own philosophy and style over results. We all saw how effective Herrera was in nullifying Hazard last weekend, so why didn’t we do that? Put Clasie etc on man-mark duty. Personally I don’t think we did ourselves too many favours and didn’t offer them enough respect. To attempt to go toe to toe with the league leaders without changing our own approach is near on suicidal in my opinion.
Souness just said we are easy to play against and I would certainly agree on that performance. We never seem to park the bus and spring counter attacks anymore. The last time I recall such an approach was the Anfield semi final. It will be interesting to see how we approach that game in a few weeks.
Play your own game 80% of the time but then adjust and adapt for certain games and certain opposition. We aren’t Barcelona, we need to show more respect to opposition at times and accept that we will come up against better players. We need to make it harder for them, not give them time and space in behind like we have just afforded Aguero, Sane, Costa and Hazard. I don’t believe they have had to work too hard to break us down.
On the plus side at least we have done Tottenham no favours. I strongly dislike Tottenham.
I will be coming down for the Hull game so I hope for a better performance and 3 points. They are fighting for their lives so it won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination.
Overall - oh well.
Where have you heard these rumours that Puel is not settled?
I’m sure I’ve read about him being unsettled elsewhere on this site Fatso. Whether it’s true, I dunno.
Outclassed by the champions - it’s the end of the world…
Yeah I’ve read that on here too, but more specifically his wife hasn’t settled. I’m also totally unsure where this emanates from or if there’s any truth in it.
Apparently she misses the constant ‘state of emergency’ in France.
I may have made the last bit up.
Chelsea put 4 past Spurs the other day too and they are no mugs.
Wait a second, since when did people start listening to the bullshit rumours on here?
Ah, a quick search has found the source of the rumour… @dubai_phil
Assuming Puel’s missus let’s him stay another year allegedly
#notsettled
A rumour.
Unsubstantiated obviously but his wife isn’t settled here in England.
Other one is Bertrand was “less than happy” at treatment of Jose and is off.
Now, given that he doesn’t give a source, lives in Dubai, doesn’t know Claude Puel or his Mrs, is the only person I have heard say it, I’m going to say this is bullshit.
Its quite obvious that a lot of the crowd on the ‘other place’ have a personal dislike of Puel that is deeper than our results on the pitch.
The fact that we’ve just lost to the Champions elect by literally precisely the same scoreline as they beat their nearest rivals by a matter of days ago, and yet still somehow the ‘Puel out’ thread gets bumped sums it up for me.
Only caught the last 30 minutes as I had a late shift, but having the seen the highlights and got the lowdown from friends it sounds like what you’d expect.
We lost to a better team.
Who cared about it more than we do to boot.
Big deal.
Not sure what the big hoo ha is really.
They took off Fabregas (who I thought was MOTM) and put on Pedro.
They took off Hazard (probably the best player in the league) and brought on Willian.
That is a quality bench and a quality team.
Costa was awesome last night. Watch his second goal again. Top notch.
Fuck me they even gave the other players’ wives a night off and brought that cunt Terry on. Glad he got to see Bertrand score.
We just lacked a bit of class. Don’t think Stephens had a bad game bit VVD could have helped prevent the poor 15 minutes (end of 1st/beginning of second half) where the game was lost.
Watched on a stream so I didnt have to put up with the inane Sky /Chelsea reach around. Commentators there were pretty complimentary about Saints.
Glad we got the late goal because 4-1 would have flattered them.
And yes, midfield was a struggle. I thought we did better than most against Matic, Kante and Fabregas.
Upwards and onwards.
The RUMOUR was that his WIFE is unsettled in England. HTH. It came from our part of the world, not the usual TSW type sources, and no not gonna argue whether it is true or not, I simply posted that it was a rumour.
Glad I didn’t go down the Pub to watch until 1am that’s for sure. Far more important to be fresh to drink coffee tomorrow after an overnight flight
(Oh and yes we are a long way away from SMS but we have a diverse bunch of Krew in diverse “industries”/professions.)
Our other rumours are fairly well known - Betrand was a mate of Jose and is hacked off at his treatment and will go, Shlong is hacked off with Puel and will go, JRod -well that ain’t a rumour it’s bloody obvious, The Chinese were not the first choice - some of Ralph’s mates were from the US.
Oh the other one? Never fly into Dubai when Eric is on duty at Air Traffic, unless you like going round in circles with a seat belt on.
For me its the style of football we play. There are four teams that play the same or similar tactics. The only difference is the names of the clubs and the quality of the individual players. Meaning we table will always reflect the order.
Bournmouth, Southampton, Arsenal and Man City
Given that over the space of a few seasons we regularly sell our best players playing the same style as richer teams is not a strategy to success in beating them. Its a strategy for mid table and a cup run.
It seems a lot of supporters are happy with this and good luck to them. Im not Im frustrated with it. I dont mind getting beat by the so called top 6, but not all of them in the same season. I think we can do better. The club just need to want to.
