Change your title to a previous badge name

OK, you may remember that @pap spent a great deal of time and effort giving us badges over the last 3 years. Well, they came across in the migration (sans images - sorry @pap). All well and good.

However, in Discourse you can use the title of badges you’ve won as the title of your user card.

The user card is the image that appears when you click on someone’s avatar.

For example. You may notice that I am currently rocking my

Worst dressed mess, 2016 badge title at the moment.

Soon I might move to Lightweight 2016 or other hard-earned nomenclature.

Anyway, to select a title from a previous badge, go to your account page (press your image in the top right, then the cog) and select Preferences and then Account.

(looks different on mobile)

Right down at the bottom, you should see Title with a list of any badges you may have.

Select it and Bob’s your ugly uncle.

You might also like my paisley background too. You can even set your user card background to an animated gif. (Preferences, then Profile)

Not seeing it tbf have had a few shandies

Will try again when I don’t have to squint at the screen at arms length…

Um, hey @Cobham-Saint, how’s you?

Um, well, have you actually been awarded any badges by @pap?

You are a bit of a newbie. Perhaps the only badges you have are the ones you’ve earned here?

I’ve created and granted you one now - see if you can use it.

I’m gonna c-bomb the ass off you @Bitch !!

I had shed loads of badges before the migration btw. Even the Umbraco badge!!

I don’t seem to have no badges. No idea if I had any or not.

Right, I’ll have to stop taking the piss out of @Cobham-Saint and investigate.

I’ve got my badges, so I’m alright Jack / @Intiniki.

And that’s an apology…?!

C…

:lou_wink:

And a newbie? I’ve served 2years in this god forsaken gulag with no release date…

We haven’t established fault at the moment.

I note that @Fatso has managed to select Loan Wolf as his title.

This means that the badge migration has worked for two of us.

Just take the one badge option that is available to you and be grateful.

Go on.

You know you want to.

I went to a lot of trouble to create that.

I have 3 badge titles available to me because I’m cool.

I used my badge option, however I only have 5 options, not the millions of “Most Popular Forum Member” awards I won.

Happy now?

I only see 2 badges to chose from…yet I had thousands…

It appears as if only the one-off badges are available. Group ones, like Founding Centurion, do not seem to be there.

OK. I’ll take a look at the migration code.

I wonder if those were stored in a different table?

I used Badges and, something like, MembershipUser_Badges (I think).

Add to the ToDo.

You’re a Trooper.

Guess that’s another badge you have now.

I have no idea why I have this badge?

I like the fact that as my badge is dated 2016, it suggests that I no longer am the worst dressed mess.
