Seriously though we’ve got to start converting from our approach play. At times it’s fabulous and then we get close to the goal and it all goes to shit… So nerve wracking!

But 3 points, 10 games unbeaten and only 9 points behind the leaders! COYS!

Hamstring. 3-4 weeks probably, which is a lot of games

I’m at the point where I really like RM. He appears to be the polar opposite of Nathan Jones. Self depreciating, modest and selfless.

But his style of play boils my piss. It’s me not him. I have to recalibrate my expectations.

My man crush is slowly moving from THB to Flynn Downes. I thought the latter and Charles showed the potential to form a decent partnership.

It’s going to be a long season, for me.

Exactly - I’m still not 100% sold on his style, but why couldn’t he leave my fine-tuned prejudices alone!

But he’s honest enough to say what’s not yet right. The defence looks better - a settled back four helps - and RM says he likes the way they’re now confident enough to take risks to spring the press, even though it looks scary. We are making fewer mistakes and the way the ball moves out from the back can be a thing of beauty.

But perversely, in the attacking third we are too reluctant to take risks (RM’s words), even though the danger resulting from losing the ball there is less. It has to be a balance of keeping the ball but always looking for the killer pass. At the moment there’s too much emphasis on safety and that makes us predictable and easier to defend against.

I thought SA and Alcaraz were the only players taking that on board last night but we need more of it and confidence that we can win back the ball if it doesn’t come off.

Disagree, it just momentarily looks less dangerous losing the ball there. In practice, other teams know we’ll keep high possession rates and therefore play to hit us on the counter. The final third is where that’s going to happen. I’ve lost count of the times we lose attacking possession and are immediately punished for it with a real threat on our own goal.

Case in point, last night, thank the lords for Bazuna…

But we’ve conceded more goals this season from misplaced passes out of defence than from counter-attacks. Perhaps there’s still work to be done on retrieving the ball quickly when an attack breaks down. That has to be an element in our style of play. I know we’re not Man City, but look at the way they do it.

And talented

I failed to report that I made it to the game, even getting a couple of pints in before the game. The taxi fare will be paid for by the delay refund.:smile:

A win cheered me, as did a post-match pint in the Cricketers and an acceptable curry

Now on the way home on a train that moves fairly normally but has no heating. It’s fucking cold.

And I’m doing it all over again on Saturday (but driving)
