That went well then.

Thanks to everyone that watched so I didn’t have to…

As if that wasn’t bad enough, I was on the phone to a mate bemoaning the result and saying that fucking Ipswich had won as well. The bird chipped in, pointing at the telly and said “it’s 3-3.”
That cheered me and Jim up, until a few minutes later when I realised that wasn’t the result but the latest score. And they inevitably pinched a last gasp winner. :rage:

Thinking about it, similarities with the Bristol game. Again too slow and lacking aggression, but credit to Hull for disrupting our passing very effectively. We missed an early sitter when they gave away the ball in their area. I don’t blame Baz for the first goal - he pushed it out to the side but straight to the only Hull player around. Our defenders too slow. Once behind we again became anxious and the passing fell apart. I think our possession and passing accuracy were the worst all season. Individuals had poor games: Rothwell, SA, Mara, Manning and even Arma to name a few. The changes improved things but we needed Fraser earlier. Our starting midfield was just too soft. And it struck me that during our long unbeaten run we were almost never losing: we’re too used to defending a lead rather than getting back into a game. Of course the big miss is Downes. Desperately need him back. I’m sure someone can compare our record with/without him.

What did the King make of it, Shroppie?

Hull had a plan - press us very high to disrupt the passing - and it worked. Their management team clearly had absorbed the lessons from the Bristol City game.

And they were very fit too, I don’t know how many times I saw 10 Hull players defending in the Hull box and then them breaking with 4 of their players swiftly getting into the Saints half, generally against 3 Saints players.

Not brave enough apparently :-
