No chance we win the playoffs either - mental stability of the fucking Unabomber this lot…
Typical Saints… should have been 3 or 4-1 ahead, and then gift it away… weak underbelly
All that possession, all that good work, all for fuck all. So so predictable, you just knew it was going to end this way at the start of stoppage time.
We always pay the price of a good first half…we still can’t put two good halves together.

Should have romped it - as usual
I wouldn’t put it past this lot to fuck up even getting to the playoffs.
How did this fucking side go 25 games unbeaten ? Quite pathetic. Russell Martin got schooled by McKenna today. Their subs were perfect timing, followed by an upping of the anti. We fucked around one at a time until they out dragged us. Game after fucking game this happens. We just can’t seem to play for 90 minutes without a complete car crash.
Oh well, at least we know that we’re heading for the playoffs now. No chance of autos now. Leeds will win later and the front 3 will be out of sight.
Nuff said
Grand scheme it’s not the end of the world - we all knew it would be playoffs anyway, but the lack of momentum is concerning.
We really miss a competent forward; the sliding doors on the Crock Ness Drogba is real…
That might be the most prophetic quote of the night. You may well be correct
Didn’t really make any difference, tbh. We were out of the top two race already, but it’s frustrating not to have dragged out the illusion of a chance at auto for a little longer if only for a bit of confidence going into the playoffs.
Why was my Dad a saints fan and cursed me with lifetime of this shite
Shame that. Unfortunately we need, at least, a 2 goal lead in any situation. Playing the same possession based football when the game is stretched and chaotic is our undoing, unless we wrestle the game back to our possession based tactic, which is why we beat poor teams, but not good teams. If we don’t do this, we try the same thing and end up stretched and weak. Sounds passe but we need a plan b when the momentum of the game changes v good teams. The only crumb of comfort is that whoever goes up will get battered (even us) v PL teams, so we can look forward to Ipswich doing a Sheff Utd. However our cash reserves will be stretched if we fail in the play offs and need another year to try and get out of this league.
Just waiting on the usual Martin diatribe. Played well, really pleased, game of fine margins, deserved more, blah fucking blah.
Man up, take the blame, kick those useless fuckers up the arse and sort this shitshow out.
The irony is that they did play well … Aribo was an absolute beast. Even Stevens had a good game. Downes was a class above. Still doesn’t detract from the fact that we chucked it away. They were there for the taking much earlier in the game and we failed to make it count.
Fucking pissed off …
Agreed. I thought he had a terrific game.
Just listen to this twat. WE FUCKING LOST YOU TWONK.
Goes on to say “if we play like that wherever we go”. Russell, my old fruit, if we play like that wherever we go, we’re in danger of getting binned from the playoffs. Zero fucking points will not be an ideal end to the season. WE GOT ZERO POINTS RUSSELL.
He’s not paid to stop goals, apparently. He’s hired for his ball-playing skillz.
We’re starting to see the teams that want it most. All our competitors want it … really want it. They fight to the end (97th minute at Elland Road, 97th minute at Portman Road)… we just don’t seem to want it enough. Yeah it’s fancy possession football that looks great (sometimes) but we don’t have the mental ability to get it over the line.
I’m still raging this morning. I think this loss is one of the worst this season. We played probably the best football we have done for a long while. It was really good but ultimately our “end of the game” tactics, subs and desire let us down. That’s why we will also lose the play offs (assuming we can even be bothered to get there)
