Done; start Monday.

After thinking I might not have a job after Christmas, I’ve now got two until the New Year.

Further career advice; don’t take any shit you don’t have to :lou_smiley:

Congratulations!

What’s the pay? :lou_lol:

Come on, you can’t ask that…

I guess it’s because I work in teaching where everyone’s pay levels are pretty much public knowledge but I’ve never quite understood why it’s not acceptable to ask that question actually. Perfectly acceptable to tell someone to fuck off if they ask obviously…

Sorry. Should have put :lou_lol: or :lou_smiley: at the end to show the lighthearted intent(shit, i know). Now i’m only left with :lou_facepalm_2:.

TMO’s post came straight to mind(which kind of proves how weak the above paragraph is) as i read yours, so excellent self-deprecating post Mr T.

This does mean there was some doubt in my mind. So the obvious question is.

How much more is he making? Should i put a smiley face thingy here?

More questions than answers, ffs, how will i ever chill out? Smiley face, again.

Welcome to the thread where Roy Keane looks for an argument in an empty room.

Is it free to watch?

Yes, but you have to plough through loads of dull stuff to get to the interesting bits.

Sit back and enjoy, although his new look is trying to portray a calmer man.

He looks like a young Harold Shipman.

If Netflix don’t make the original series, and Amazon give it a pass, you know Sky will always commission it

Hey all, thought I may as well pop up with a little update. I had my Lloyds AC on Thursday so its a nice little catharsis to write all about it I suppose.

There were about 12 of us. Most were probably in their final year of uni or had just graduated, with one or two older people. I’m obviously 26 but don’t look much different. There are always a few older-looking recent grads with beards and whatnot so I never feel as if I don’t fit in, which is good I guess.

First task was the one-to-one interview, which could have gone better. I’m perfectly talkative, but I do struggle and waffle on a bit, particularly when given vague questions. I have thought about investing in some interview coaching but my mate at PwC advises me to give it a bit of time. If interview struggles really become a theme then he says I should go for it, but to sit tight for now, particularly given that I’m very successful with phone/video interviews (or have been so far).

Next came the written test. Again, hard to judge, but probably could have been better. It was about 20 minutes long and you had to write what your responses would be to certain situations.

After lunch was the group exercise. There were 2 fairly alpha male guys in the room who put their mouth about a fair bit, with a somewhat ditzy but very nice young lady as well, who was on the quieter side. I found my role being the ‘calmer voice’ who brought things together/did a lot of active listening and note-taking/clarifying/asked around the group to establish a consensus and did my best to get the quietest member of the group (the girl) involved as much as possible. Thought I did pretty well but always difficult to judge. Will certainly be interested to get feedback.

Next was the maths test. Very confident for that. It was surprisingly easy but I genuinely think I got every single answer right (there were only 12 questions).

Final task was a pitch/presentation. I thought I made a v. good job of this as well as the follow-up questions. Only thing was that I did read off a bit of a script, but I made eye-contact enough I thought - and certainly kept to time and presented well.

Ultimately, I thought I did OK and felt very positive afterwards. Sadly, I think they only take one or two from each AC so I’ve probably fallen just short. If they were taking maybe 40%-50% or so I’d really quite fancy my chances, but I think the sheer weight of numbers/competition will be what does for me.

They said they’d get back to us within 7 working days, but that they try and get back in 24 hours (so what that means I have no idea lol). Anyway, haven’t heard back yet but certainly not expecting anything as its super competitive. A good experience though and I’m very glad I made it as far as I did.

As for the others:

EY - Through to AC - recruitment person offered me a 20th January AC date which I’ve replied to confirm. I asked her to confirm my confirmation although she hasn’t got back to me, so I’ll chase her up there.

Nationwide - Through to AC - haven’t been given a date

RSM - Through to AC - haven’t been given a date

National Audit Office - Through to AC - doing it on 12th January

BDO - Did video interview Friday before last so it has been a while. Must admit I’d be surprised and disappointed if I didn’t make it through so quietly confident for that, despite the long wait. Not a certainty by any means though so fingers crossed.

HMRC Tax - Apparently we’ll get our test results in January.

Must be difficult competing against a totally different generation though. :lou_sunglasses:

See, I don’t understand this, I sort of get genning up on the company before going there but interview coaching? It all sounds like someone elses idea to make lots of money (sort of like motivational speakers).

You are yourself, be yourself, if you get the job based on being someone you’re not then you’ll soon get found out.

I’ve interviewed people before that have waffled and I generally find them more engaging than the ones that give rote, stock answers and show no emotion! Maybe just me but I like people with a bit of personality.

Can you also tell us a bit more about the “somewhat ditzy but very nice young lady”?

Did she wear glasses?

At some point did she shake loose her long, wavy hair and slip off her glasses?

Like Jane from Neighbours? I’d have ended up chimping off in the bogs

Well, fingers crossed it works out. Its incredibly difficult not to be vague when you get a question like “Are you someone who enjoys being pushed outside your comfort zone?” Anyone asked that question outside a work environment, and therefore giving a truly honest answer, would naturally both have to take some time to think as well as give a fairly vague answer in response! Any sort of a decisive answer is pretty much inherently rehersed and slightly dishonest!

EY are being difficult now. I received another generic email inviting me to an AC on the 23rd January now. I’ve rung and run but I only get through to the voicemail of the lady its from. In the end I emailed back to say “Look, I’m good for whatever day, just give me a confirmation that I’m all booked onto it”.
