Absolute toilet first half.

Slightly better 2nd

Overall, shit

Phew

I get a trip to Duxford with the Grsndkids

That’s so frustrating. We lost the game in the first 20 mins by having the wrong team, wrong formation and wrong tactics.

That’s unfair. At least Mike Bassett played 4-4-2.

Cuuuuuuuuuuuuunt.

They had a two goal aggregate lead and we’re not renowned for creating chances nor breaking teams down. So basically they knew they didn’t need to create any more chances or even really exert themselves, Nathan. With the greatest of respect, you’re a Bellend.

In the cold light of day, we didn’t do badly. Losing both goals by a single goal against such an expensive team isn’t bad, but it’s frustrating that we had the players to do better. It was the manager’s ineptitude that let us down. Wrong team selections with the best players for positions on the bench or played out of position. Wrong formation. How mamy times does Jones have to see 5 at the back not working before he realises it doesn’t work? Wrong tactics. Starting passively with weaker players last night, sitting back and hoofing clearances to nowhere or passing to the opposition when we needed to get straight in their faces and unsettle them. Once we were two down, no hope. I was beginning to hope Jones might be getting to grips with managing a skillful group of players at the top level but on this showing, no chance. He just seems to be arrogantly sticking to his bizarre theories and favourites. The mark of any good manager is the ability to read the game, convey to the team just what he wants and convince them why and the use players’ strengths. He’s got none of those and, even with new signings, I’m pessimistic.

To claim a small ‘win’ in the second half totally lacks situational awareness. His decisions, formation and personnel, put us in the situation.

It was obvious we were outnumbered in midfield and couldn’t retain possession right from the start. It was a matter of time before Newcastle to advantage of this.

How NJ starts Diallo before Lavia in such an important game still has me baffled.

Yet Bazuna had to make 2 good saves to Pope’s 1. And they hit the post.

What a deluded twat we have for a manager. I was there and the mood amongst the 2500+ was mutinous.

On my Amazon wish list I have put a manager for my football team. I wish for one with between 4 and 5 stars, and all I ask is that he/she knows what they are doing, and understands football.
Idiots, lunatics and those obsessed with their own ideas, even though they have been proven to not work, need not apply.
They must also promise not to play people out of position, and must listen and act on advice from all quarters about what is the best team to put out, and NOT leave the best players sitting on the bench.
