:brexit: Brexit - The Ramifications

So the UK is a woman?

Yeah but her relatives keep coming to stay, and never fkn leave :lou_angry:

Yes, but her relatives are great. When they’re here they do loads of jobs around the house which would otherwise not get done. Certainly better than the lazy teenager up in the attic room who sits around wanking over porn all day.

Callin Bear a teenager is a bit of a stretch.

Unfortunately the relatives give their chore money to their parents so their parents can payt for the upkeep of their house whilst not paying for the upkeep of this house!!

(I’m crap at analogies, no really!!)

More accurately, the relatives don’t ask for as much pocket money.

What a laugh, eh? You’re on this forum making the case for low wages.

The Matrix has you, my son.

I think you need to have a look at your maths Bob.

2016/2017 figures show that after the rebate, EU spending and EU grants we only paid ÂŁ8.6bn. No where near the ÂŁ18.2 you are offering by using the ÂŁ350m/w figure. You also seem to be offering this in perpetuity. I think you would cost the Country a lot of money, although 48% of those that voted would love you :lou_smiley:

Whilst we are talking figures, remember that widely ridiculed figure £4300, that leaving would cost each family. It’s already happened. Seems whoever wrote that for the little Eatonian shit knew what they were talking about(if a bit optimistic).

ÂŁ488 per worker + ÂŁ868 per citizen. Average household 2 workers plus 2 kids = ÂŁ4448

Project fear or project reality?

Well, seems plenty of my EU colleagues are able to earn plenty for their sought-after skills, as are the many doctors and nurses we rely on.

How about that Sonny Jim?

Here is a thought. Let’s grant work permits to doctors and nurses. We could actually do this

The EU brought in laws that stopped us employing Doctors and Nurses (and other trades) from outside the EU (unless we could prove there was no-one in the EU that could do the job).

So, as a trade off, we give work permits to EU nationals (good suggestion @cb-saint ) and also get in them pesky non-EU nationals as well.

Win/win

I know @areloa-grandee likes to talk about the EU having no borders but, in reality, if you’re from outside the EU you have two hopes, and Bob isn’'t one of them.

At the expense of domestic nationals that could be earning plenty, but aren’t.

At the expense of apprentices that could be getting trained, but aren’t.

At the expense of their own compatriots, who’ve lost many of their best people to the UK, and may never get them back.

Last time i was in hospital there were loads of Filipino nurses.

Yeah, they taking our jobs. But with Brexit, they’ll all go home…

Oh.

Did the Chong Hua hospital clear up your, ummm, condition??

Filipinos in the UK are either citizens or Tier 2 migrants.

Companies have to pay ÂŁ1000 per head for Tier 2 migrants, and cannot sponsor them for any longer than five years.

Oh.

Might I gently suggest that sir includes some facts in his next claims? They’ve been known to help

Yes, I understand all about Tier 2 migration. How does that alter what I (flippantly) said?

All you’re saying is that we have a load of Filipinos over here working in the NHS (taking our jobs) and, not only that but their employers are paying an additional £1000 for the privilige. And Brexit will have no effect on that. Instead of having Portuguese or Spanish nurses over here, we’ll just have even more Filipinos and Indians (or whatever…).

Or we’ll restore the nurse bursary, perhaps pay them a bit more, make the profession more attractive.

Perhaps I’m over-simplifying, @bathsaint , but if labour leaves in droves, then the price of labour will go up and the country is going to have a strong incentive to develop domestic talent.

This is really simplistic, basic thinking.

I can’t actually see anything wrong with it, nor point to reasons as to why supply and demand don’t apply to the labour market as to all others, but its really simplistic and basic thinking and as an enlightened, staunch Remainer, I can only tell you that you’re very wrong and stupid.

I got an inkling of how wrong I was on this issue when it transpired that no-one was able to respond to it :lou_wink_2:

Thanks for the grim confirmation.
