:Brexit: Brexit - The Aftermath

Oh dear. :lou_facepalm_2:

That might well get you what you require but accompanied by hand gestures behind your back.
El wankero.

A Uni mate of mine went to Benidorm with the chat-up line “Sucko Cocko?”

I think he ended up having a multi-wanko.

I love that episode. Couldn’t get away with it now, especially if you want soft toilet paper.

Amazing, isn’t it?

There is an episode of the Young Ones which routinely gets cut whenever it is aired.

The premise is a policeman with very dark sunglasses on assuming that a white house caller is in fact black, and treats him “accordingly”.

The whole thing is a critique of the coppers’ attitude to race issues at the time. The character is very racist. The context is not.

Same thing with the last episode of Operation Good Guys. I doubt that’ll ever get aired again, and it’s genius.

I think the point was more to do with the blatant lies (like nearly everything spouted pre referendum by Gove et al) as opposed to the indifference of Brexit voters towards ex-pats…

And of course, the Remain side was absolutely honest at all times!

Like Gideon Osborne’s punishment budget. The notion that the 9m spunked on a pro-Remain leaflet, sent to everyone in the country, was “independent government advice”.

“Nissan will close down”. “Businesses won’t invest here”… That’s a two lies settled for the price of one.

“It’ll hurt the poor most!”. That’s my favourite. The fucking balls on it! You’d need a fucking wheelbarrow for each ball if you ever needed to transport it somewhere!

  1. We won’t see the impact of Brexit for some time… as many have constantly pointed out to you, but you ignore… especially now since COVID has distorted the economy to such and extent that its may well mask the impact for a considerable time …

  2. The lies spouted by Osbourne or whoever, were not in question in the post, only Gove’s were… but its OK to lie as he is a Brexiteer? :lou_facepalm_2:

I’m 46 tomorrow. I learned some time ago that you can’t take everything politicians said at face value. I wasn’t informed by any of these wankers.

I got my advice from Peter Shore, Tony Benn, Barbara Castle and the debates from the 1975 referendum.

They came with bonus hindsight and almost everything the Leavers of the day said would happen did happen.

Fucking hell, Are we still doing who told the biggest lie thing?

Both sides lied, remains problem was they didn’t have the wit to put their lie on the side of a fucking great bus.

Of course you did, but you also seem to defend every brexit voter as someone equally independently researched… whatever. It may or may not have escaped your notice that the same parts of the country that overwhelming voted Brexit are those who seem happy with all that Boris, Gove, and even Bonkers Farage and his racist posters stood for… good luck getting them to vote for the left again… they have found their true voice…

Politicians lie.

I remember hearing what Paxman’s inner mantra was “Why are you lying to me you lying bastard?”.

What’s amazing is that everyone apparently forgot that for the 2016 referendum and simply believed everything they all said.

Telepathic-of-Tasmania can sort you out with further details.

NO your problem is that in Pap world no one ever votes out of ignorance, or because they believe politicians shite and propaganda… in Pap world all the Northern working class who used to vote labour and voted Brexit did so out of some deep routed intellectual political dogma, and nothing to do with being swayed by racist and xenophobic shit praying on their fears in areas of high immigration of ironically ‘non-europeans’ … In pap world, there are no ignorant stupid people, there are no racists, just down to earth intelligent labour voters who all pointed to the EU and quoted Tony Benn…

PS… both sides lied. Only one side used racist and xenophobic propaganda

Nah, I don’t defend every Brexit voter. It’d be handy for my ideological opponents if I did, but it’s not my thing. There are some utter fucking wankers on my side of this binary argument.

If I wanted to engage in such a childish argument, I might point out that your side had a far higher death count when it came to people of colour, wave the demons Blair (Iraq) and Cameron (Libya) at you and in classic History Today style, say “that’s you that is”. It’s beneath me. You are not them.

So why are we playing bigot bingo on a binary vote?

So what did their indefensible records on Iraq and or Libya have to do with remaining or leaving the EU? I will tell you, fuck all… which is not the same as the imagery of ‘Breaking point’ and a fuck load else on immigration specifically targeted in those Northern regions… for this to a valid argument you would have needed Blair or Cameron to use those ‘campaigns’ as some sort of justification for staying the EU, so null point on that i’m afraid

Yeah, and the other side just went around falsely accusing people of being racists.

I think that was probably a more profound experience than any wank Farage put up, and he was not the official campaign. In a binary vote, we mere mortals don’t know why people voted.

I’m interested in what your mind reading powers tell you. Was everyone a giant fucking racist, Map? Is that how it went?

Cameron’s intervention in Libya more or less created the Mediterranean refugee crisis after Libya became an ungoverned space. It has absolutely been a factor, especially combined with Schengen.

I’ll share some advice which has been a great boon in my life.

Before you declare you’re right, check you’re not wrong.

Oh dear… you see you profess to want adult debate, but whenever it gets a bit sticky you do like to throw in baseless ‘childish’ or ‘comedy effect patronising’ nonsense… Like many we called the RACISTS racist… we also suggested that nearly every piece of propaganda spouted on immigration was xenophobic at best (targeted in regions with less EU workers and more brown faces…), that is fact, and not false accusing anyone of anything… so if you vote based on that ‘insight’ are you a xenophobe or merely taken in by falsehoods?

This has fuck all to do with ‘mind reading powers’ but I suggest that you NOT wanting to believe some of the more sinister or ignorant motivations of many in those northern regions is simply naive or wishful thinking…
