:gov: Boris Johnson is Still the Prime Minister

Nice - “fuck you, why should you have something I haven’t got”

What’s next?

Labour against two or more holidays a year - everyone should go to a govt run camp in North Wales

Labour against big houses - everyone should live in two up two down tenements

Eton needs reform, not abolition.

Why throw away the baby with the bathwater?

Keep the institution, but make at least 50% of the placements state assisted.

If we’re going to have class war, we may as well start early

Fuck off - where will the staff go?

What’s next?

A level playing field for kids would be a start.

I heard it best summed up as…

“You may work hard and earn well and you may well deserve to own more than me but do you kids deserve a better education than mine?”

One’s answer to the question of whether one group of kids deserves a better education than another had better always be no. Surely?

I think you have, going on the last 2 years, but that’s just my opinion, so please don’t take offense, as i feel that way about most people.
He didn’t prime anything, he’s too stupid (knowing Latin and a bit of history is no indication of intellect, but tells you a lot about people that believe it does), that was Bannon and the Murdoch liar, which is more than enough to tell anyone it’s a shit show for the gullible.
Alexander cocaine Pfeffel is leading this country and you only need to look at who financially backs him to see where it’s all heading.
Have a read of the Britain Divided article. What happened to these things being important?

If you abolish private schools, the wealthier will engage private tutors, or move into the best schools catchments and price out the poor (Thornden) You won’t stop people giving their kids a leg up whether they can, be it education, house deposit whatever

Ironically having private schools frees up spaces at the best state schools so less wealth kids benefit

Anyway in my experience cream generally rises to the top - don’t overestimate the advantage kids get from private education - it isn’t a silver bullet to riches

It’s weird isn’t it. The people that say everyone will be ok if they just work hard, are not willing to follow their own advice. Which makes what they say a load of self serving bollocks.

Nah 3.30 finish for us.

Eton has produced 20 prime ministers. Hunt (Charterhouse), Farage (Dulwich College) and even Corbyn have benefited from private education. I’m not overestimating anything.

It doesn’t.

It’s totally driven by catchment. As you said above, unless you’re in the catchment, means you first need to be able to afford to live there (Thornden), then you’ll be in an underfunded lower-tier school.

Education is on its fucking arse and it needs massive investment.

The pressure will not be put on the government until all parents and all voters feel some of the pain and insist that it is a priority.

I can’t fucking stomach the idea that the wonderful young people that I work with are discriminated against because of the size of their parents’ bank balance.

Can’t fucking stomach it.

I think intelligence is best defined not just as knowledge, but in the application of that knowledge. I’ve always thought Boris was very knowledgable, but not that intelligent.

It’ll all be ok bletch. We’ve now got one of Britain’s finest fireplace salesmen in charge. Sure he’s a national security risk but you can’t have everything.

There is a vast difference between Eton and say King Edwards.

Abolishing Private schools will not result in the massive funding state education needs - even if you swipe the money from those parents who were paying. It will be a drop in the ocean

You already have a catchment issue with Private schools - imagine what will be like when the private school kids are turned out and their parents start looking for options. It will make a bad situation far far worse

Put them in the infantry

I went to a comprehensive of predominantly working class kids, but with a sizeable intake from a couple of the posher areas in north Southampton. I’ve been on record several times before as wanting a well funded education which mixes.

I don’t like the fact that we’ve had two Prime Ministers from the same classroom, and I would utterly agree that Eton has had far too much influence in modern British politics.

The cool thing about the 50% idea is that it something that could be done, well basically now, and it may also ingrain some of these rich kids with some idea of what it is to live on the breadline.

If it fails, and it turns into a facsimile of what tends to go on in Oxford and Cambridge, we can turn it into a museum with ample justification.

That sounds like the grammar school system

Fair description(although i think your being very generous).
Also nice defusion, which is appreciated (your a cunt to nail down). Give others the same latitude on that shite subject and you’ll get some fun debates(goes both ways obvs).
Anyway ALEXANDER COMPULSIVE LIAR/COCAINE/MISTRESS PFEFFEL is somehow in charge of this country and that alone should sadden everyone(sane).

Let’s get rid of those as well.
All schools designated the same, with exactly the same funding(per pupil + special requirements) and let’s live that “all the same” dream, instead of saying it and doing the opposite.
As I said to MOT in the thread about it, watch the state education system go once more parents with the education and will realise it’s their kids future that demands attention(rather than just buying it) Each one of your articulate voices that are now missing would make it the priority it deserves to be.
But that’s one of the things that unite people, no matter what their political outlook, so won’t be allowed.

Thing is mate, if we both read our posts out in a pub, mine would sound a wee bit saner.

And half the pub would be on coke.

Do you seriously think this is something that would bother the general public?

We’ve a private boarding school literally across the road from us. It’s male only until 6th form - where they then let in young women (to study) so the boys know there is another sex, apart from their mother.

The exam results are very average at the very best m, but better than some of the poor performing state schools in the area.

Me and Mrs CS both went through the comprehensive system and came out ok (Well, Mrs CS did). We moved to the area to get into the best Comp, which promptly started to go downhill. Kids both did very well as the teachers went above and beyond to get at least some kids through with A and A* grades. I feel sorry for the toe rags who couldn’t be bothered to try (& want to twat their parents for not taking an interest in their children’s future).

Saved a fucking fortune on school fees though :+1:. Payback is getting them through Uni :frowning:
