He was aiming for Defoe’s kneecaps… but missed

Hooray. The game has left me in a good enough mood to do one of my infamous alternate match reports, that have little to do with football and more to do with the general feeling of things in the Itchen North.

The lads to the left of me are mental, and start off quite a few of the chants, which I help them out with. We really didn’t have a lot to sing about in previous games, and I reminded the mush next to me not to jinx it when at 2-0 up against Chelsea, he tried and failed to get a “you’ve had your day out, now fuck off home”. He was very well behaved on that front. There was no point that one could comfortably have sung it, save right at the end, when the final whistle went. And we did. Very loudly.

That first goal looked fantastic from the Itchen North, and the place duly erupted. We were not happy with the equaliser, naturally, and it’s not the best place for stuff going on at the Chapel End. From our perspective, Long’s effort looked a lot more clear cut than it was.

I say this every season, but Saints do care about Bournemouth, but in a very weird way. They care about not caring about Bournemouth. On yesterday’s evidence, it’s easy to see why. Their best chant, “oh when the Saints go Championship”, was simply repurposed by Itchen North and the Northam with greater clamour, lacking the venom of “oh when the Saints go 3-2 down”, as happened during the West Ham game.

Our most effective chant was “we saved your football club” :lou_lol:

Nice to see you again, little bros. Well done for scoring your first goal ever at St. Marys. But you had your day out. One can only hope you’ve fucked off home *

* @btripz - would you mind having an extended ride around the Bournemouth area to ensure that this is the case? You’ll only have to check a third of the houses. One third of Bournemouth is Saints, while the rest is the product of the scouse enclave in the area.

I take some credit for Susan’s brilliance yesterday. I managed to get (via Sparky) your mini tirade about Tadic in the Rockstone played to him pre-match :lou_lol:

I have slated him all season but he was excellent yesterday. We are a different proposition when he plays well.

He looked back to his best like when he tore Sunderland a new one in that 8-0 in 2014/2015. Give us a couple more of those performances between now and the end of the season please, Susan.
