⚱ :engerland: 🇦🇺 Ashes 2019, 5th Test, The Oval

With Australia having already retained the Ashes, there were times when this day had an end-of-term feeling, and both sides showed signs of limping towards the end of an intense summer.

Quote from the BBC.

294 all out.

This would require investment, time and energy, lets just pick players who like to smack the shit out of it, that’ll work…

Poor batting once again, the lads on here will attempt to spin it and say it was a valiant battling effort against all odds though…

Warner gone!

Harris gone for 3
Archer gets both openers

Stop Smith scoring. England have to stick to their plans for longer. It is a game of chess. If you can stick to your plan and stop him scoring then Smith will do something different - all batsmen do.

Alec Stewarts amazing appraisal of the game and Smith…

Labuschagne gone LBW, he’s plumb, he’s not reviewing…

Archer gets him

83-3

Poor batting, from their 2nd best batsman? Who would have thought?

This post is of one desperate for a leveller…
Their 2nd best batsman got what score!

Less than Butler who you criticised this morning

4th wicket for Archer, 5th Aistralian wicket

Marsh gone for 17

160-5

Where did I criticise Butler this morning?

Another mentally-weak shot. This time Marsh pulls a long hop straight to long leg.

160-5. But in no way is Smith the difference between the sides. No Sireee.

I’ll think you’ll find Marsh is exactly that, a very frustrating player with a lot of talent, ask the Aussies.

If Smith is solely the difference as you say then the gap is still vast.
Their bowlers are better than ours, they have more depth, variety and skill.
They’re playing away also.

Curran gets Paine for 1 run (from 15 balls), thin edge safely pouched by Bairstow.

Australia 166-6
