❄ Are you a woke bloke? (MoM approved)

Was that a veiled Covid racial slur?

We need to scour the world’s languages and eliminate those words that sounds like words in English we don’t like

That way we can create a more tolerant society

If there’s a foreign word which sounds like “equality”, that can go for a fucking start.

Remanded in a women’s nick?

For me, if she still has male genitalia then she should be in a men’s prison. I have no problem with transgender but if he/she truly believes they were born into the wrong sex then why not change completely? Otherwise I am not sure if you are truly transgender…let the abuse begin

She wont survive a male nick

On this subject I see Stonewall are kicking off at the WRFU stating that trasngenders cannot play elite womens rugby.

What exactly did they expect? If Manu Tuilagi declares tomorrow that he is trans, take 12 months of hormones he would be able to play in womens rubgy disregarding 30 years of muscle growth and conditioning. There is every chance he would kill someone.

This is Sotonians, not Mumsnet. We’re happily a bit too obscure for your abuse to arrive

Yes, There are More than Two Genders Shirt https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GFTDQ25/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_i_EejHFb5JYZRZG

Officially there are two sexes linked to two genders, male and female so that is correct in fit type

This is a pretty forward thinking routine from 2009.

see this went down a trans route and there is a trans thread already.

I think that’s inevitable. The phenomenon of woke is rooted in identity politics. This is one of the most prominent identity politics issues.

I’d also add that given the shit some high profile people have got, people perhaps preferred discussing the issue on a low profile thread.

If the woke debate is about whether we cater for the sense of other people’s offence, then some of the actions of TAs definitely feature in that debate.

Sorry Pap. Are you talking about posters on this site or commentators elsewhere?

Come now @Cobham-Saint. You must know by now that if I want to confront, I confront.

This thread is mostly about the wider world, but I’ll not deny that I’ve seen a few moments when it has reared its head here.

My view is that preventing people from being offended is impossible to cater for. Someone is always going to take offence at something someone says, especially in this lockdown social media age, especially fucking Twitter where it’s very difficult to provide any kind of context.

It’s a maxim I try to live by and don’t always succeed in, but the only person who can genuinely wind me up is me. I make the choice to lose my shit whenever I lose it. It’s not anyone else’s fault; I always have the choice to react in a better way.

Same thing with offence really. I was on a stag do in Prague last year and as well as the eye getting fucked, I also heard some pretty ignorant shit about immigrants.

I wasn’t going to let it go, but neither was I going to let my sense of offence get in the way of making the point well. My favourite ploy are the obvious questions. The government have made a great deal of capital out of so-called “NHS Tourists”.

That came up, and it was an edifying one to change minds on. Would never have managed it if I’d “done a Fatso”.
