Absolutely dreadful game - from both sides. Draw was wildly celebrated and deserved.
What was fucking shocking was the players at the end…fans given up weekends, spent hundreds, arranged childcare, frozen their bollocks off and supported throughout…at best three came over and clapped properly…the rest absentmindedly clapped as they wandered off.
It’s been a good day out but that will stick with me.
Yes Barry. There are. Only yesterday Pap mentions his Pxe. Two weeks ago my old man is diagnosed with cancer. I spent 18 months watching mrs AG get through leukaemia when I was no more than a 20 something kid. So yes '‘Bazza’ when you go on and on about passion in football , I think its a fucking load of bollacks. Football is a fucking good game and I love supporting Saints, but yes there are a fuck load of more important things in life and anyone you thinks otherwise like some twat like Shankly is just being a dick.
Enjoy our wins, go get pissed if you need t when we lose, but for fucj sake dont take it that seriously. Sadly Shankley became a complete arse the day he made that ridiculous remark (although is suspect he mean it toung in cheek, as opposed to twats who took it seriously)
But you’re taking that to the margins, most realise obviously quite rightly what you’re saying but football is taken far more seriously say in this City Liverpool and say Glasgow than others, them down the road have a bit of it we don’t and we never have, thats just the way it is.
No its not Barry… its just some ego driven idea that folks want others to think… ‘‘look at us, we are so much more passionate than you’’ point is it means fuck all as there is IS so much more important than that.
I love football. Drilled into me by my Granny when I was a kid, who was a staunch catholic but used to swear when during World cup losses… and I love seeing us win, but losing is a game, being relegated? Its all millionaires playing games Barry, so why the fuck are you that bothered?
Of course the point is welcome, better than nothing, but you can’t polish a turd. That was an awful game, for 80 odd minutes we were simply awful. A great strike from Gabbiadini rescued us but it does beg the question, why on earth is he not starting? It is blindingly obvious to everyone except the manager that he is our best option for scoring. A natural predator with an eye for goal and a great technique. Bringing him on with 15 minutes to go is ridiculous, especially with waste of spaces like Tadic and Redmond running around like headless chickens for 80 minutes. Who’s cock is Tadic sucking at St Mary’s? Why is he starting just about every game when it is blindingly obvious that he just isn’t good enough? We got out of jail today thanks to Gabbi, if he doesn’t start the next game it will just confirm that Pellegrino is clueless. And as for Carillo, he was anonymous for most of the game, it was like playing with ten men. Millions of pounds worth of talent sitting on their arses on the bench, Hojberg, Boufal, both clearly our best players in recent games, potential match winners. But Pellegrino somehow seems to think dross like Tadic and Redmond are better options. Baffling. Let’s face it, for the majority of the game it was like watching a Sunday morning pub team. No shape, seemingly no tactical nous, they clearly are not playing for the manager, they give the impression that they don’t understand what they are supposed to be doing. And Pellegrino has to be the most uninspiring manager in the Premiership. No passion, just stands on the touchline with a puzzled expression on his face. CholulaKid’s post summed it up, players not bothering to acknowledge our supporters, wandering off with their heads down after the final whistle. It is almost as if they don’t care anymore, they are resigned to relegation. And if that does happen threequarters of the squad will be gone to pastures new. Championship football is not on their agenda. We will be left with Long, Davis, Austin and precious little else. Pointing these unpalatable facts out is valid, it doesn’t mean that somehow we are not true supporters. It means that we care, and by any yardsick we are being short changed, by the team, the manager, and the powers that be in the boardroom. Barry gets mocked by some on here for asking what the Chinese owners have to say, but he’s right. They say nothing, do they even go to the games? Is there any evidence that the owners of SFC have any interest in the footballing side of things? I think the answer to that is, no there isn’t. Burying heads in sand and pretending otherwise is daft.
For goodness sake people. It’s a game of football.
We weren’t at our best today. Not sure if we’ve been at our best all season. Shit might happen. Shit might not.
Let’s move on please ?
Stoke next. Tyke and I are gracing your shores. Surely there must be pre match beers and surely if we yell and shout at least we can walk away from SMS knowing that we did our 12th man bit.
