Nobody getting involved with this? I’m usually 2 or 3 months behind whatever is brand new, but some of the things I’ve listened to most this year (off the top of my head and not in order):

Black Origami - Jlin

The Animal Spirits - James Holden

Concrete Desert - The Bug vs Earth

Join the Fucking Drum Circle - Do Pas O

The only new stuff I’ve listened to this year is Mac Demarco. That’s terribly sad, isn’t it? Oh and Courtney Barnett and Kurt vile.

#4

I have done a lot of research on the matter and discovered that no good music has been made since 1995. Radiohead aside.

#5

I have a lot of friends like you Tokes…except they think the cut-off date is 1972 and the exception Showaddywaddy. :lou_facepalm_2:

#6

It is not my true opinion but a spin on a Steve Coogan/Alan Partridge joke.

#7

Yeah I’d forgotten that one…unfortunately my comment was based on fact. :lou_sad:

I just realised I haven’t listened to a full album (all the way through start to finish) since Muse - Resistance in 2009.

#10

I know it weren’t great, but surely that’s no reason to swear off albums :lou_wink:

#11

I hate the cherry-picking of tracks prevalent with today’s Spotify generation. I buy online and even if an “autorip” is offered I’ll buy the CD too. Artist make fuck-all from album sale these days because of it.

Respect the artistic effort put into a collection of music and buy the whole album.

A late shout for a record I’ve only recently been introduced to:

Configuração do Lamento, by DEAFKIDS

Full-tilt Brazilian drug-panic psych rock. An absolute kick in the cock.

#13

“Full-tilt Brazilian drug-panic psych rock absolute kick in the cock” is the best indie band name
