Landed in Amsterdam. Here to meet friends from Aussie, not any other reason. Schitpol airport is held up as one of the best in Europe right? Shit. 1.2 hours through passport control. Baggage hall overrun with people. If this is the model of efficiency you can stick it.

I seem to recall a spate of reports that they’re trying to keep the tourism down, especially in Amsterdam. Maybe turning the airport into a hellhole is viewed as a practical deterrent?

All the baggage handlers are chillin like villains, spliffed up in the canteen. Fair play, it’s a shit job, I imagine. Had a similar experience in Berlin a few years ago after a flight from Spain. The German’s returning home were furious. I didn’t need to complain, just watching the locals tearing the airport staff a new arsehole was enough.
On another note, I fucking love the Dutch. Had the pleasure of getting to know a good dozen or so in my life and they’ve all been top class, great company and good fun. Scousers on the other hand
