…ashtrays on the tables…those were the days…
Never tire of visiting Salamanca. Favourite Spanish city. Beautiful buildings, lovely ambiance, great food.
Lady Slowlane and myself will be there in early September. We’re renting a boat and retinue to sweep majestically along the Douro Valley. We’ll take a week to do it with a visit to sample the delights of Salamanca.
Yay Salamanca!
I walked that square wearing my Born in the USA Tour sleeveless T-Shirt.
Damn I was cool…
Beautiful City, missed by so many tourists, but not Sotonians
Trip across the border to Germany to T’Eagles Nest.
Got Hitler’s lift up and visited Eva’s tea room.
Pilgrimage?
Bazbot will be after you!
Just been down a salt mine to look for Nazi loot. Found nothing but site-lore says Barry already has it.
Stopped off at Koenigsee for a paddle but 34c
Had to have some fresh Bavarian spring water with added hops and yeast
Off to Innsbruck today by train. Train is going to be delayed by 10mins from Salzburg.
Got an email from the train company to apologise!
Can’t see that ever happening in the UK
At Innsbruck and logged onto free station WiFi and got this:
I dread to think what will be on it when done….
Ronnie Corbett has left his bedroom door open.
…in that case, it’s goodnight from him.
It’ll be exactly the same, but you’ll be deafened by a female porn star faking an orgasm when you log in.
Holidays are great, however actually getting there isn’t all it’s cracked up to be sometimes.
So left home at 6.15am on Thursday for a 10.40 flight. Parked on the M3, literally, for 1.5hrs just before the Hook turn off. Got to Heathrow and massive massive queues. A bit of sweet talk and got put into a shorter queue… Checked in, rushed through the airport and managed to get to the gate and on the plane with the last group of passengers.
Arrive in Miami, which has the longest ever immigration queue I’ve seen. We were only transferring on the way to Costa Rica, but had to go through all of immigration and basically out of the airport to come back in again.
Eventually, after about 1.5hrs got put in a transfer queue. Made it to the gate for our next flight in good time. Flight delayed. But 30 mins… Not a big deal.
Onto the last leg to San Jose, Costa Rica. All well… Until we’re coming in to land when they say there’s a problem with the flaps and we can’t land as it is too dangerous. San Jose is quite mountainous, so we have to divert to Liberia on the other side of the country.
Not a massive deal, just inconvenient. When they say though to ensure all sharp objects, hand held items and yourself are securely strapped down for landing as things might fly around the cabin, you do get a little concerned.
Landing was OK, if a little more bumpy than normal.
Arrive in Liberia, sitting on the tarmac for near on 2 hours whilst the authorities deliberated whether we would fly back to San Jose, get out up in a hotel or be bused back.
Eventually we had to be bused back. All off the plane, more queues and delays in the airport and customs but finally we got on a bus to San Jose.
Just over 3 hours later, we arrived at our hotel, 25 hours after we had left.
Waking up to this view was kind of worth it though. Will be spotting for new striker at the national stadium…
