Oddly enough, thatâs a vivid memory of Porec when I was a kid. Parents ordering whitebait at a harbourside bar and watching fascinated as the bloke casually walked down the jetty with a flat net, rinsing the catch under a hose and throwing the fry into the pan before piling it onto plates for us. Tasted quite wonderful.
Took me years to get over the fact the whitebait wasnât gutted and youâre basically eating fish guts, brains, bones and shit as wellâŠ
Stop it, youâre putting me off
I forgot the piss as wellâŠ.
âŠnot to mention the, ahem, reproductive fluids.
Well done @CB-Saint for keeping up the stats
From the BBC:
â 4. Sharp decline in holidays after Covid restrictions
Overseas residents made just under 300,000 visits by air to the UK between April and June - a 97% decline on pre-pandemic levels. Thatâs according to the Office for National Statistics, which also says UK locals made one million visits abroad by air during the same quarter, representing a decrease of 96%. Visits to friends or relatives were the most common reason for travelling. A relaxation of quarantine and testing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers has led to a boost in travel in recent weeks but was too late for the vital summer holiday season.ââ
Funny that not that many people want to come here
Must pay attention to whatâs going on
Our restaurant is on the other side of this lot
Apparently there is 4 hours of it
McDonalds, nice
I was wrong - itâs still going on - the main parade has split and now they are all over the city
Absolute carnage - 400k people here
Totally brilliant
Did you make it to McDonalds?
We had secreto - unbelievably good
Turns out we have landed in amongst one of the most important National holidays in Spain - all Saints day hence yesterdayâs parades
It also turns out the the yanks have nothing on this lot when it comes to Halloween - everyone is dressed up and out on the town
Half of malaga looks like a giant squid game
At least sounds like you can get food etc.
Here EVERYTHING is shut except petrol stations.
The town is a bit more subdued today - what I read about it - everyone goes back home to spend time with the family
Most tapas bars are open
Sardine festival time of course
Marbella has several beach BBQsâŠSardines a speciality.
Absolutely top drawer
Now I know I like my posh nosh but a grilled sardine is a thing of beauty
Especially fresh ones
I think the poor fuckers were still swimming when they got skewered
The fish here has been amazing
I have realised that staycations are bollocks and we were only saying how great they are in a vain attempt to persuade ourselves that the over inflated price of a couple of weeks in Scotland was worth the same cash as a business class all in holiday in the Maldives
