Plan 9 from Outer Space - an Ed Wood masterpiece. You should find and watch Dark Star - John Carpenterâs directorial debut, and as good a piece of sci-fi comedy as youâre likely to find. Unlike Ed Woodâs work, though, the comedy is purely intentional.
I agree with you that it is brilliant but an Action movie??
Not in the slightest. I was just replying to Scottyâs mention of another non-action movie.
War films : have to include Platoon and (anti war) Born on the Fourth of July.
Reservoir Dogs and Heat to add too.
Itâs a good shout
Iâve seen it twice, the first time I found it utterly hilarious, was crying with laughter when he started surfing across space at the end. The second time left me baffled as to how Iâd found it so amusing before. Looking back, Iâm certain itâs to do with my states of mind at the time, I was in a really bad place mentally on that initial viewing.
You are all wrong as Apocalypse Now wins on all counts.
Cant believe nobody has mention Hitmansâ Bodyguard & its sequel
Or Transporter 1
The Cruel Sea
Dambusters
633 Squadron
Bridge over the River Kwai
The Longest Day
The Ipcress File
Italian Job
Etc
Battle of the River Plate
Sink the Bismarck
Your favourite is the best ever.
You can argue 'til the cows come home, itâs the only statement that counts and nobody elseâs opinion matters.
I fell asleep during Star Wars, it means nothing to me, itâs not a favourite.
The Deer Hunter
I liked the sequel starring Shipman, The Old Dear Hunter.
They have a point and it should be in the list. But like a guilty secret (eg The Great Escape) rather than a classic.
BBC News - How Top Gun: Maverick shocked the world
Guilty secret?? bugger off
When Top Gun first came out - everyone who saw it wanted to fly F14s
When I watched this one, I was googling the maximum age for RAF recruits afterwards
Sod the F14s I want to fly a P51 Mustang
