🏏 2nd Test :engerland: England (and Wales) v India 🇮🇳 - Lord's

77-3 in reply

Pope out LBW for 28

Both Pope and Jennings reviewed their LBW decisions when they were plumb out, strange reviews IYAM.

Lunch 89-4, Root out LBW last ball before lunch

131-5 Butler gone, another LBW

Lovely little partnership here between Bairstow and Woakes, both now made their 50. Woakes is a very composed batter, I think that’s what marks him out as a genuine all-rounder.

230-5 at tea…handy lead. :lou_lol:

Typical of Lords. 1st 30-50 overs of a Test virtually unplayable, then always settles down and gets harder to take wickets as game drags on.occsssionally a bit of bite and turn in last innings. England usually bat 1st & of course lose.
Need a lot more runs yet…
Kohli & Pujara will be useful on a flat sunny day tomorrow, wouldn’t want to be chasing150 on final day
Yep think that’s negative enough

Although BBC Text stream are saying the radar picture is improving…

Woakes 100 up Bairstow on 92

It’d be a shame if there is more rain tomorrow. Can’t see a result if we lose another day.

I’d be tempted to declare once Bairstow gets his ton.

… or Bairstow gets out.

You gert twat!!

Pandya to Bairstow, OUT , caught behind and Bairstow falls seven short of a hundred! Expressionless as he leaves the field, but he should really be proud of the effort. England were 80-odd for 4 when he took charge. Now they have a 200-plus lead. Solid effort from a player constantly growing in stature. But he might do well to forget this ball, and the way he threw his bat at it, driving on the up and nicking behind. Good effort by Karthik too, diving to his right to snatch an edge that was travelling quickly

JM Bairstow c †Karthik b Pandya 93 (144b 12x4 0x6) SR: 64.58

So I guess the plan is to check the forecast tomorrow. If it looks cloudy and can get an hour or so of cricket we will probably declare. If it looks to be dry ish all day then T20 time for 10 overs or so

The forecast for Sunday doesn’t look too good, plenty of rain for London apparently. If they get no play then Monday have to declare straight away, probably got enough runs now anyway. Was a good toss to win.
Really pleased for Chris Woakes, getting his maiden Test hundred. Listening to the pundits discussing who would drop out if Stokes is available for the next Test, surely it’s a no brainer, it has to be Broad. Woakes opening the bowling with Anderson. Broad, sadly, is a spent force.

Curran whacks a quick 40 and out & we declare 290 ++ in front
