Fair point but you can only play whatâs in front of you (as per every Saints game).
History isnât interested in the what-ifs. Nobody will care in 10, 20, 30 or a 100 years from now about him, heâll be an also-ran, a foot note in the stats.
Unlucky for him that he didnât play in an era when everyone else was absolutely shite and we could fawn over a British (Scott) champion??
Still, he got his 3 grand slams and gold medals (better than any of us will ever do in our lives), and fair play to him in my opinion.
I still treasure the certificate I got at Junior school for winning the egg and spoon race aged 11, but imho you need to look at the era and players in his time and not look at what might have been.
Iâve not been following the Olympics much tbf - Mrs C_S has it on the telly box and cheers if we win something
This story sort of made me sit up around the whole gender issue
The BBC says this:
The grauniad says this though
The interesting comment is
â⌠On Thursday Carini broke down in tearsafter she abandoned her bout against Khelif after 46 seconds, saying: âI have never felt a punch like thisâ
Obviously one comment may be out of context, though I think thereâs a lot of work still to be done on the gender front in sport.
