đŸ€Ș 2019 General Election Discussion :gov:

It was always on the most likely result, no need for clairvoyance to call it
the small bit of hope was only ever that, but this has always been about Brexit
and now they have got their wish. The true impact will now be felt those least equipped to deal with it, yet also voted for it

Beautiful.

It may also be the death of Social Media as a weapon in Elections, something I tried to allude to earlier.
A lot of Twitter heading to bed early tonight

Dont be such a twat - this GE was lost because of poor people being sold a lie, and then another one that it was all about democracy spread by folks like you who knew what it would mean and yet were prepared to go with it anyway
because of some odd sense of principle self righteousness. I have never agreed with you on any of this
then again you seem to be adopting the traits of those you have put into power with your Brexit vote
making up shit about people. Enjoy your moment of triumph when we leave the EU, gloat as much as you like, but that referendum result, has fucked the poorest in this country for a long while, whilst your mates who will get this done will sipping the champagne for years
 enjoy.

Sold a lie or not they bit again, they bit because they’ve been shat upon by metro London Labour for years, their votes have been taken for granted for years, I think I have said this.

I completely agree. I think social media is a big reason that Remain was seen as a credibly sized part of the franchise after the EU referendum.

That 48% dwindled quickly in the popular vote. Most people are democrats. Even if they don’t like the result, they get on with it.

The other reason Remain was seen to be something of a positive force was its massive Parliamentary representation, completely at whack with public sentiment, as we discovered tonight.

Gonna jump in here MoT.
people don’t change their stripes.
I would have voted Leave and almost every client I have in my Van from around Europe agrees with my logic - Single Market, Standardisation, Freedom of Movement - Brilliant.
Actual Political structure of a Federal Europe/ Wrong wrong wrong.
Brexit was about Cameron explaining our reservations and seeking change. He got screwed by arrogant idiots.
NOTHING since then has changed the minds of the majority of Europeans let alone Brits.

Er no, they have been shat on by 9 years of Tory austerity. Your POV is imho rather odd and makes no sense.

The labour vote has been taken for granted for 50 years in the north.

I am enjoying Andrew Neil eating Politicians for a late dinner

I disagree. It was the failure to respect that result that caused this loss. You may not see it this way, but plenty of others did. Labour didn’t just take no deal off the table. They took Leave off the table. Effectively.

With senior front benchers saying they would campaign to Remain in their manifesto promise of a second referendum, how can those floating voters needed to win anything be relied on to vote Labour?
