I don’t know how to break this to you, but Wee Jimmy Krankie is not a ā€œheā€. :open_mouth::open_mouth:

My understanding is that ā€˜coloured’ suggests that the white skin tone is the base or correct tone and that everything else should be measured or defined by how it differs from being white. It was instigated by ā€˜white’ people and conveys difference and not being ā€˜one of us’.

As ever, the definitions of words or even the inference or connotations aren’t what is necessarily important. It’s how they have been used in history.

ā€˜Coloured’ has been used throughout history predominantly by white people to refer to non-whites and usually in negative ways.

Again, just my understanding, but the term ā€˜people of colour’ is one used sympathetically and embraced by, well, people of colour to refer to non ā€˜white’ people.

That we sometimes need a term to refer to a group of people that are non-white isn’t in doubt. What’s important is that the term is used with the blessing of the people the term refers to.

These are usually the other way round or even. This looks quite significant.

Again tonight Johnson doubled down on the ā€˜no checks’ in the Irish sea line. Despite his Brexit secretary and a leaked document acknowledging there will be checks.

Our political journalists and interviewers are shite because here he is, in his own words, acknowledging the checks. This was of course when it suited him to make the point that these checks will no longer take place at the border, so pushing them to the Irish sea was a plus. Now people are pointing out the issues for NI, he simply denies it and we seemingly have no way of holding him to account.

The lies just trip from his tongue so easily. He really gives no fucks. He will say anything knowing that he won’t be held to account by a friendly media.
Lets hope he’s held to account next Thursday because it won’t get any better if he gets a mandate.

Doesn’t that have the same problems as the problem it is trying to address?

Just in reverse?

It was instigated by people of colour to say so called white people are not one of them, or at the very least, that people of colour refers to people that are not white?

I also disagree with needing a term for non-whites, because I really don’t like the word white in that context.

There were no white or black people before slavery. There were nations, principalities, tribes. ā€œWhiteā€ comes entirely from multi-national colonisation and slavery.

Furthermore, I’d ask why we need terms like white and non-white. Even today, you clearly cannot generalise on such a massive level. You can go into every crime of every nation and say which nation they fucked over, and you should.

To be honest, I find the whole generalisation to be implicitly racist.

But sometimes you can be all 3.

However I’m a little tipsy and not got my reading glasses on.

In 2016 I thought Boris was a lying prick who would trample over the poor and the weak - but tonight I saw him in a new light.

He’s clearly still a lying prick who will trample over the poor and the weak, but he was lit differently.

Top trolling by JRM…

See this is when I start to lose my shit.

How can one watch this calm, seemingly non-partisan description of where the NHS is at, and then go on to vote to continue with the party whose policies have led to this.

This is a rhetorical question, so not trolling for answers.

Fuck me.

At the Labour rally the other day I ended up chatting to a child and adolecent mental health nurse. She spoke about a local CAMHS being on its knees.

I could tell you some stories about CAMHS, but I’d get sacked and you’ve heard them all before too.

It’s failing parents, people that work in schools and obviously, and most importantly, lots of children.

What seems to have happened is that, as a reaction to a large increase in children with needs coupled to being insufficiently funded, they have developed entrenched positions and have gone looking for diagnoses and outcomes that reduce their workload which pushes ā€˜problems’ on to doctors for medication or school professionals to manage as best they can.

WE AS A SOCIETY CAN’T FIND MONEY TO HELP OUR YOUNG WITH THEIR MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS.

Let that sink in.

Sorry, preaching to the choir here I know. Just the likelihood of another 5 years of this shit is starting to get real.

Cunts.
