Ah, hadn’t heard about that. Sounds like a faux pas and a half, that.
I’ve put a tenner on RLB and Nandy.
Can’t believe Starmer is 1/10 - for a vote that’ll ultimately be decided by a very left wing membership.
Got 16/1 for Nandy and 11/1 for RLB.
RLB / Dawn Butler dream team for me
RLB’s odds shortening. Best price is now 13/2. Still can’t believe Starmer is so favoured when it comes down to a member’s vote. He’s down from 1/10 to 1/7.
You can’t equate CLP nominations (featuring a fraction of the actual membership) with people that can vote online.
Unless it’s rigged, I just don’t see him winning.
Emily Thornberry is out of contention. Let’s face it. She was never in contention, was she? Given how she made her money, this quote rings particularly false.
I’m proud that I was the only candidate to secure nominations from all four nations of the UK, and I’m delighted to have made new friends around the country, and met so many dedicated campaigners, who may be deflated by the election result, but are determined to fight back.
“It was on their behalf that I stood for the leadership, because I’ve always believed we are at our best when – from the dispatch box to the doorstep – we are one, united fighting force, taking on the Tories, and standing up for the communities we represent.”
Talking of quotes, I’d like to applaud her modesty here. You can take self-effacement too far, you know…
“it’s back to the day job of holding this wretched Tory government to account on its foreign policy, and doing so with the same passion, tenacity and forensic skill I’ve shown for four years in that role,” she added.
Little bit presumptuous as well. She seems to assume she is going to be shadow foreign secretary.
She’s probably right, tbh.
Think I might send that quote to private eye for their Modesty Blaize feature
She was also big on saying that she got a nomination from each part of the Union.
I wonder which Northern Ireland constituency she got a Labour CLP nomination from.
I see that both Nandy and Long-Bailey have gotten themselves into a row over trans activists demands that groups like Women’s Place UK be seen as transphobic.
Boris and Dom must be laughing themselves all the way to the next election.
“Hey, let’s piss off around half the population to place under one percent!”
FFS.
Sad, but true.
Unfortunately the Labour Party will never recover from the Corbyn debacle. The party, and all its MPs have become like its leader - completely and utterly unelectable.
So who won one last night?
Looks like a transitioning Donald trump
I’d love some wank London labour to go for a bevvy in somewhere up North like Redcar ha ha, there’ll be back voting for the tories or the liberals in no time.
Or the entirety of the Conservative campaign material if she’d actually won.
I just did that and it came out a draw between Lisa Nandy and Keir Starmer. If it’s still level after extra time, i will have to revert to type to select the winner - Nandy it is!
I suppose this thread is as good as any for this.
