I had Spikeâs memoir âRommel - Gunner Who?â to accompany me on a Greyhound Bus trip from New York to St Louis. I was sitting next to Harold an average friendly American. I started reading the book but with laughing out loud at regular intervals stopping me Harold got curious.
From thence onward I had to share paragraphs with HaroldâŚthe laughter doubled. Other fellow travellers got curious and so the book was shared between more and more until it got impossible to continue. When I left Harold in the bar at St Louis Greyhound Station I gave him the bookâŚanother big Spike fan who the day before had never heard of him.
