Best news iāve heard all week!
Pennywise and Avenged Sevenfold seem to always be near the top of my playlist, but Bullet for my Valentine⦠Wow their new album is amazing!
Just heard this on 6music. Iām a bit surprised theyāre playing it, given how overtly political the message of the song is. That said, itās an important message, delivered with huge amounts of passion.
Really enjoyed that KRG.
Heard it on 6Music too - like the rhythm and the gospel parts but donāt like the repetitive shouting parts.
Can understand that, but I feel itās appropriate. Given the subject matter.
Canāt find this tune anywhere to embed it, but this is a strings-only cut of a song by Guillemots. Used to be really into them and I heard this as a B-side to one of the songs off their first album and itās stayed with me ever since - it disappeared from the net a few years ago and thankfully itās resurfaced. Beautiful arrangement, Fyfe Dangerfield is a seriously good musician and very underrated imo.
Saw Gaz Coombes at the Moseley Folk festival on Saturday. Apart from the fact that you could hardly call him and Idlewild (who were the headliners on that particular night) folk, his set really was excellent. Great performance where he must have gone through about ten different guitar changes. He disappointed a friend of mine by resolutely avoiding any Supergrass material and, instead, focussing almost entirely on his last two albums. As I say, an really excellent set and performance.
Oh, and he was signing autographs and doing a general meet and greet earlier in the afternnon. I think he was rather non-plussed when I got him to sign my Supergrass tour t-shirt from the US tour from 1997. He did mention that it was a nice t-shirt :), but did I notice a whiff of depression in his eyes when he relaised heād been at this for quite so long?
Maybe that depression was just brought on by meeting you, prof?
Quite possibly. He took one look at me and realised weāre all getting older and itās all a bit of a drag. He perked up when he got on stage:
Eskimo Callboy - My Own Summer
I found this German band recently and have been struggling get some of their songs out of my head. If you can get past the terrible band name (Iām not convinced that I can) youāll find the bizarre twinning of Bring Me The Horizon-esque metalcore with either boyband choruses or Kesha-esque vocals (depending upon which track you listen to).
The linked song in particular has embedded itself deep within my every waking moment. I canāt even tell whether I love it or hate it.
