đŸŽ” What are you listening to etc

My ‘Discover Weekly’ playlist on Spotify threw up this young lady today.

Think I’m gonna get a bit obsessed with her.

She should have won the Mercury prize, just my opinion

Grant Hart, Husker Du vocalist and drummer passed away, liver cancer. Great songwriter, Husker Du maybe don’t get the credit they deserve.

As a 10 year old this was pretty cool. Which Character did you want to be?

I know “Reggie Dixon’s Tango Treats” will float a few boats but Astor Piazzolla torpedos Reggie out of the water. For me this is just about the best Tango I’ve ever heard
like the difference between amateur guitar strumming and Jimi Hendrix

If this doesn’t move a music lover
check your pulse.

I love this so much. It’s just exactly what I wanted from them.

I’ve just discovered that Neil Young’s music is (finally) on Spotify, so I’ve been having a bit of a binge.

What’s everyone’s favourite NY album?

For me it’s a tight call between Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, or On The Beach.

I think On The Beach just edges it.

A great back catalog but I have to say “After The Goldrush” for the simplicity and the emotional rush. I bought it the first week of release and played it daily until it wore out.

Neil isa bit like Bob D in that he has such a strong catalogue, rich and diverse which is part of what makes them so great. Bit ATGR and Harvest are seriously simply beautiful, but then the shear kick arse of Cortez teh Killer and 'Out of the Blue (My My,Hey Hey) also classic
 whether Acoustic or full throttle
and some seriously good Buffalo Springfield stuff as well

oh and one of my favourites

Good shout, Areola. I used to do a lot of cry-wanking to this album. I’m better now though.

This is my go to Calexico album @lifeintheslowlane Is there a better one by them?

Just how good is this
I can’t get past the first 30 seconds without bursting into tears
believe me that has been very embarrassing over the years

Yeah
just looking at the track listing there are quite a few they still perform regularly whenever I’ve seen them so it’s obviously a band favourite too. I often find the album that the “album of discovery” of a band remains a favourite so I also love “The Black Light” which is musically a teasure trove because oddly a large part of it is instrumental.
