Bastards!! I hope you all get drunk in the pub, pass out, and miss the fucking game!!!
No, I’m not jealous. Not at all.

Have a good one all. Family Goat safely arrived in Tahiti. COYS!!!
Look forward to the update and photos!
Well, I am just back at the Flower Estates after walking back from the game, and the pre-match beers. Good game, nice beers, and I met a couple of forum people for the first time. Sadly, ottery wasn’t able to stay long, although I very much appreciate the effort made in bothering to turn up, and it was very cool to meet him.
Also, bletch met the rest of the gang! I have finally met my “forum wife”! There were several non-Sotonians present, including members of my fam. S05 and Fowlly D were also in attendance, SO5 bringing the next generation of post code inspired forum posters along too.
The Everton game is going to be massive if we can all make it.
I’m here. Where is everyone? In fact, you might all be here as well. How do we recognise each other? I’m in the corner with an erection.
A superbly accurate self-description, even with the typos. Great to meet you in person!

Aww, was it a beautiful moment, boys? Was everything around you in slow motion?

Really great to add a few RL faces, names and personalities to the collection of attributes I’ve associated with avatars over the years.
Despite having been on the beer all afternoon, I can remember quite a bit of the encounter. Here’s what I’ve learned / can remember. In no particular order…
pap doesn’t have hobbit feet, but he hugs like a bear - who’d have thought?
pap’s step-brother and friends are decent people.
pap’s ladder-pulling uncle is a hypocrite.
Barrie the landlord has put on lots of weight.
Fowllyd really isn’t from the Wales, but he is Dorian Gray (he has a new nickname).
SO5 doesn’t live in SO5 - not that it exists anymore anyway.
SO5’s son is taller than him (and it’s not just his hair, SO5).
SO5’s son has the same name and spelling as my son. It’s a Mancunian-Irish thing apparently.
SO5 and Dorian (told you about the nickname) are like Morecambe and Wise, Vic and Bob, or the Four Ronnies or something. Vicious banter between mates with roles assigned and faithfully kept over 40 years. Hilarious.
Despite studying Russian, Dorian’s pronunciation is appalling. I had to correct him a couple of times. It’s Do Svidaniya leto, Dorian.
pap picked up on the fact that Dorian is a Russian speaker, so took me to one side, and in hushed tones, said, “they’re all fucking government shills Bletch. Play along. Follow my lead…” (which I did)
pap still has a 'ampshire twang and doesn’t sound like Joey from Bread.
One awkward moment came when Dorian said that I looked in good shape. I flushed, blinked my eyelashes and whilst fanning myself with a beer mat, said “Why thank you Mr Gray”. He then corrected himself and said, “No, I mean considering you’ve been on the beer all afternoon, you look in pretty good shape”. Thanks Dorian. You give with one hand…
I missed ottery’ and also didn’t get to see Shirty Saint. Did he turn up?
As everyone headed to the game I headed off to St. Denys station, and as I had to wait for my train, I watched the match on Ohio’s match thread while drinking Dublin Porter in The South Western.
An excellent end to an excellent day.
Oh, and…
They are all fucking weird in real life. Turkish was right.
P.S. Thanks for the beer papster.
LOL.
The sun was shining on my phone at the time. Honest.
And you, Dorian.
Now THAT was a post meet up match report. God job Bletch, setting the standard for everyone else…
I had a pre mach beer.It was very nice.
I also had my fish & chips. That was also very nice.
Meantime I met up with about 20 steveweb crew & followers of our massive on Twitter.
The Old Farmhouse was just too far from Gloucester Place where I had to meet up with my family crew.
But what a great night. Huge lol at the Chippy when some Dutchies walked in and said they’d read about it on stevesweb on a post from a guy in Dubai. Got free Taratare sauce portion for that!
Gonna make next week’s prematch beer day so much more relaxed!
Apologies to all not able to stay at The Farmhouse.
Held up on route from Devon and to take detour.
Daughter in car and had to sort tickets re meeting other family members.
Good to meet pap and say hello to a few others
Obviously there for Sundays Espanyol game , Everton and Norwich home games…hopefully chance to meet up with others.
COYS
Apologies all. Due to SWT being dicks and selling me a ticket I couldn’t use on the train I wanted, I was unable to make it to Southampton until about half 7, so was unable to meet.
Next time though.
I must have used up all your luck with SWT - I got from Waterloo and my son from Chertsey at precisely the time I said we would. Four trains all on time - wierd!
Broken rail at Wimbledon today though…
Good to meet all, especially Bletch - thanks for not falling asleep at my recollections of Eastleigh when it was all fields. Fowllyd and I are indeed like that, only with less wit and intelligence and more puerile abuse.
Chertsey hope you can make the next one
Yeah, was a little surprised to see you not make it down. Shame, but I’m very pleased that your woes did not prevent you from seeing a bit of history.

Well, after all the water that has crossed under the bridge, I didn’t really want to be rocking some limp hug or a formal handshake. Juvenile Unit #1 has strength of two bears in the hug department, so I’ve no sympathy if you were injured. Man up!
pap’s step-brother and friends are decent people.
Half-brother, or to all intents and purposes, brother.
pap’s ladder-pulling uncle is a hypocrite.
Barrie the landlord has put on lots of weight.
Get you, you shallow bitch!
Fowllyd really isn’t from the Wales, but he is Dorian Gray (he has a new nickname).
I’ve never mentioned this before, but he resembles one of our directors, so I’m always a little antsy when Dorian is about. I half expect a decent chat, but worry that he’ll land me with a data conversion exercise.

I should point out that SO5’s real name is finally logged in my brain. Thanks to Dorian for two reminders. Thanks to alcohol for allowing me to forget twice.
pap still has a 'ampshire twang and doesn’t sound like Joey from Bread.
Yeah, there are definitely some disadvantages in coming back home quite so often. A girl at work, Pompey, used to proudly and correctly declare “you’ve just been to Southampton” whenever I’d just got back.
I missed ottery’ and also didn’t get to see Shirty Saint. Did he turn up?
Ottery was briefly about. I got there before him, so at around 18:20 went off to do two things. Have a piss and find ottery. I found ottery whilst having a piss
Lovely chap, and not at all what you would expect from his posting style. GB clued me in beforehand, so wasn’t a huge shock.
They are all fucking weird in real life. Turkish was right.
Can’t really argue with that. This entire site is weird. It’s a football forum that caters to geeks, freaks and word bores. I find it interesting that we had the same epiphany.
These people belong to us, bletch! We have built it. They will come.
P.S. Thanks for the beer papster.
No worries, mush. It had been a long time coming and probably poor renumeration for all the effort you’ve put in.

Geeks, freaks, word bores and feminists. You couldn’t make it up!
Glad you all got on. The other two founding members of the post-match drinks club met in London and watched the game on a screen, feeling very jealous of those at the game.

He’s a fucking shithouse. Racist self-loathing half Pakistani. Nobber.

I would like to say I was glad to have been of service, but having seen the highlights today, I was clearly watching some other match last night.
Was pretty annoyed actually, I don’t like letting people down (even if they wouldn’t actually be that bothered!!). Would have liked to have met the others!
