I suspect he will fail but given his track record I wouldn’t bet too much on it
He will be like Dominic Cummings on steroids

Nope we haven’t- it was a place where everyone thought they had to have a presence- but if you have a company whose mantra is to do the right thing then staying and paying to post on a site full of fake news, allowing conspiracy theorists to run riot and promote people like Yaxley-Lennon in spreading hate speech as some examples - then it’s a no brainer.
Then think about the role influential billionaire Musk has apparently carved out for himself (by sucking up to convicted rapist / felon Trump) in the new US administration, then do you not just feel a little uncomfortable slagging off The Grauniad?
Actually, I suspect you probably don’t.
Yes but you know that I’d be going bald if I hadn’t lost my hair already
No we’re been making hay post budget
Alternatives to Twatter - look at Threads or Bluesky racking up new accounts.
Speaking of the budget - I was exploring the extent of salary sacrifice schemes beyond pensions
It’s mental - you can even lease an electric car via it . In you opinion is the govt going to shut this down because they couldn’t have thought people would be buying household appliances or their tennis club memberships through it
The Guardian, the LibDems and I have all left TwitterX for Bluesky.
This presents an interesting schism in social media
If the left have taken it upon themselves to leave Twitter and join Bluesky are we going to end up with a self affirming left wing echo chamber and Twitter being the right wing echo chamber
Strikes me as that will be even more divisive
Now if everyone “decent” of both hues end up over on Blue Sky it won’t be long for all the knuckleheads from both sides to turn up and recreate the cesspool
Trump has appointed a chat show host as Defence Secretary.
Words fail me.

The view is that it’s not changing in order to help the drive away from fossil fuel. A good incentive. I wouldn’t buy a fancy souped up milk float myself mind.
Unfortunately you’re probably right. Enjoy your echo chamber of choice until you have to move to a new one.
He does seem to be bringing in outsiders
I suppose one plus is this one has served in the military.
Apparently he is going after DEI saying “woke” policies have no place in the military
This chamber is enough for me.
Yeah one full of depressed Saints supporters
Where’s the irrepressible optimism of @OzSaintDave when you need it?
This migration to threads / blue sky puzzles me - Twitter was a shit hole before Musk got his claws into it (he hasn’t helped) so why do people think another Jack Dorsey creation will be any better
And why do people think that a platform run by one manipulative mega billionaire (Zuckerberg)will be better than one run by another (musk)
I see the Batcall has been made!
Tbf, optimism is one thing, as I have more of enough of that to go around, but I am on the Trump Train side of this discussion and don’t feel the need to justify why.
Let’s just say, historians will look back at this election and say it was won/lost over
A Squirrel
A Racoon
and
The Amish
Who had them on their bingo ticket?
I suspect that it’s because none of the others have acted in the same way as Musk, who to be fair is becoming more unhinged every day - probably why he gets on so well with Tango Clown
People are leaving Twatter in increasing numbers because it has become a cesspool of hate/mysogyny /conspiracy theorists etc. This isn’t a difficult thing to see happening.
Obviously some people like that sort of thing but others are voting with their feet -until they need to move platform again. I don’t see this as a bad thing regardless of platform ownership.
Hey Dave - good to hear from you!
Wasn’t expecting you to surface on this thread - but fair comments mate.
The real issue isn’t the platform(s), it is that the users don’t look at why they get triggered/upset to the point of wanting to leave. So they leave to “a greater, more inclusive space” but the underlying issues are not dealt with.
Kinda like swapping partners and getting more of the same without dealing with your inner workings
It has been a while! Yes, never did comment much on this one but this was where the tag was and so, here I am! Cheers mate

I left it for the same reason I left facebook. Which is because it’s shit.
