:trumpdumb: Trumped!

He got what, 71.6m votes - just I’ve 50% of the votes. They can’t all be as thick as mince, can they? Rhetorical question.

I hate it when the losing side starts branding the electorate as thick, particularly when that side is supposed to be the party of the people

Strikes me as if the party of people have disappeared so far up their own asses that they have lost touch with what the worries the man in the street, but then bitch like crazy when some one else turns up and says the right things and wins

It happened with Brexit
It happened when Boris knocked down the red wall
It’s happened now

You have to ask - whose fault it is. The voter or the leaders of party who cannot seem to connect with their traditional voters

Trump did well with women voters because he pushed back against trans ideology. He said no men in womens sport, no ifs no buts.

Like our politicians the democrats have tied themselves up in knots on this one with crap like men can menstruate etc

Lots of people I know who are smart voted Trump because they didn’t like what the democrats have done over the last 4 years and Harris wasn’t really offering anything different

Substitute UK for America in this clip from that Spiked piece, and you could be describing post-brexit Britain.

Since 2016, America has endured a top-down attempt to delegitimise half the country, particularly the working classes, for daring to defy their ‘betters’.
2016 wasn’t a blip that can be quietly moved on from. Working-class voters are not going back to being ignored and having their concerns about deindustrialisation, immigration and the woke cultural revolution dismissed as the death rattle of old, white dinosaurs.

Incidentally…

It’s the US

Shysters voting on the best bet to make a quick buck. The markets will readjust once the profit has all been taken.

Yeah, and when the women can’t find any state to offer abortions, as an example of his campaign policy, when needed then they’ll realise the stupidity of voting Trump. Still, as has been said, you can’t legislate for stupidity….

Immigrants? Next….

This is turning into a shoeing

Trump on 294 with another 17 leaning his way. Harris stuck on 223.

Kamala is woke.
I think in the whole autopsy that will be close to top of the list of reasons

(Besides the money the elite could make from his win)

The thing is born out of frustration that there does remain a huge proportion of the electorate that simply have no interest in their Government policy other than their personal gain… with populist leaders feeding on this by portraying anyone who thinks beyond self is some ‘elitist’ arsehole.

That works for both sides by the way, but inevitably its much easier to convince those people to go with their instinct than against it. You simply cannot ignore the data that shows the disproportion of lower educated folks who voted for Trump. Note this is not about them all being thick, but perhaps more to do with lack of knowledge of wider implications of what thay are voting for, or they generally dont give a shit about it?

Trump has already denied climate change in exchange for wanting to free up the use of more fossil fuels, why? To make money now and fuck tomorrow… he does not really care a out the US economy, he cares about his own and his pals opportunity to fill their boots… just as those politicians advocating Brexit, or cunts like Boris.

Its not good enough to suggest its all down to the opposition being shit … people should have enough about them to see beyond a blatent populist agenda and what Trump is really all about… what do you call folks who cant or wont?

Plus folks quickly forgetting COVIDs impact on the global and US economy and putting it all at the door of Biden/Harris

The Remain argument consisted entirely of repeating constantly that we’d be better off financially by staying in the EU while ridiculing any legitimate concerns over autonomy, sovereignty and border control. That was it, we’d have more money, full stop.

Somehow, the intelligentsia has persuaded itself that their naked financial self-interest was morally and ethically superior to the thickos voting on principles. They’re not even embarrassed by it.

Sounds like the political version of “women, know your limits”.

But you are right Green issues and such like don’t even feature on these peoples radar - they are all about can I get a job, will it put food on the table and a roof over my head. Help me with that, you get my vote.

Other issues, such as Net Zero - well lets say generally you have to be able to afford those principles before they get a look in.

The rich might be looking at short termism to make a buck, (maybe they are bright enough to see that something like net zero is futile).

At the other end, they are being selfish to survive now, not in 50 years time

The problem I have with this is ‘lets make certain words or groups out to be ridiclous and thus avoid having to confront the actual truth’

‘intelligensia’ FFS since when was being intelligent a bad thing? Since when was considering the broader implications of our actions beyond ‘self’ a bad thing’?

Same was done with PC or ‘Woke’ - words that describe a desire to have a fairer and more egalitarian society without the prejudices caused by ignorance? All this hijacking and twisting of good principles and turned into farce by the right wing, and their associated media… to mock anything that might highlight their prejudices

We are thus constant accusation that such politicians ‘failed to connect with ordinary people’ Well Who are these ordinary people? And if they are only focussed on their own situation, then is that really enough?

You talk about principles, yet dont acknolwedge that these are not something we are born with but that we Learn, that evolve as we learn more and its why we have education as a basic human right- its not just about exams but more importantly about getting ‘ordinary people’ ALL people to think critically…

People who simply blame immigrants for local challenges, are not in possession if all the facts or have not thought critically about them… that is down to an unwillingness to do so… for a number of reasons, but all point to ignorance. Dont mistake ignorance with intelligence… there are many intelligent folks who deliberately remain ignorant and many who may not be as intellectually gifted who are not.

I don’t think scotty is saying being intelligent is a bad thing. More " I am more intelligent and I know what’s best for you" is the bad thing and that attitude pervades in that group (intelligensia)

A load of bollocks - ‘the only limits we have are those we chain ourselves to’ The British are the worst for this because of the legacy and continued use of describing ‘class’ in our society…

But that is a falsehood portrayed in the media. we need to get away from feeling uncomfortable that we might have more knowledge than other which has helped shape our opinions and principles - its about encouraging more folks to Access that knowledge. If you then still want to be a nazi after being educated on all that us wrong with this ideology then you a cunt… if not in possession of that knowledge then you are ignorant but not a total cunt… If you seek out that knowledge 99.99% of people would change their minds
