I was hopeful when I saw that the execution had been stated the other day. This is dreadful news. Yes her crime was horrific but she clearly is a deeply disturbed woman. If the taking of a life is wrong, what purpose does taking a life for a life serve, especially when we know the death sentence is no deterrent. The number of executions under Trump is growing. That is some legacy he is leaving behind.

Still no acknowledgement of the 5 people who lost their lives? My first wife was a narcissist. I once asked her why she never apologised. She said, without a hint of irony, that she would apologise if she did anything wrong but that she never did anything wrong! These people are emotional zombies. What makes him especially dangerous is that he has no empathy or understanding of what his actions mean for other people.

Lets be honest thats what this is really about, it politics and both sides know he’s powerful, this is their opportunity, its disingenuous to suggest otherwise.
He was playing politics, the victims family wanted her dead, may have been a different outcome if they forgave her in some way.
Absolutely terrible and thats how polarised its become, how many have died in the BLM riots or been injured, both sides are absolutely shithouse.
Lucky we don’t have that sort of division in the UK.

Unfortunately this is not automatically correct. It would take a subsequent second vote in Senate after a successful two-thirds majority there to remove him (uphold impeachment) to debar him from future office. But this would only take a simple majority. The tough bit will be getting the impeachment through Senate.
Presumably he can’t run from prison though?
Obviously he won’t get removed from office as Republicans won’t vote for it - but his troubles in New York State are likely to result in a conviction from what I understand.
If he’s bankrupt and serving a prison sentence he’s probably disqualified from eligibility to stand

Politics, power & money.
The Senate vote will be decided by how many Republicans want to get reelected - ie need money.
They can gamble by voting for or against Trump…
Because a Republican passed an amendment they must now vote publicly.

They did, but it is not their call. In other cases where the family asked for clemency, Trump ignored them. The first woman executed since 1947 and a mentally impaired person too. Sickening.
