I worked for American Multinationals in the Middle East for 20+ years. In that time I had training from FBI, US Embassy and of course Corporate Legal on everything- obviously initially due to the location and the potential for disaster.
When Iraq fell after Gulf War 2 photos of our product being looted from Saddams warehouses appeared on the front pages of EVERY Broadsheet worldwide.
I survived because of Corporate Legal and my adherence to their policies. The idiot in charge of UK got fired for it - he sold the serial numbers on the boxes. 
Anyway. Corporate Legal advise and leaders with a brain listen.
Jack Dorsey didnt ban Trump. He will have been advised Twitter could be liable IF Trump is ever charged and found guilty under US Law.
Ditto Facebook et al.
The arguments on social media about censorship are bollocks. It was risk avoidance.
Until that rally Trump was barking divisive & dangerous. But at no point did he (potentially) incite people to break the law.
Oh but it is free speech they cry - not if it puts thousands out of work & costs shareholders billions

Because now they have seen ACTUAL legal risk. Everything so far has been opinion.
IF Trump broke the law they have covered asses.
But equally IF he did then they have a big target on their backs for Harris oops sorry Biden to aim legislation at

Proof is one thing ie a court case but public opinion is far more valuable commodity in this instance, as I said all the way through today and frankly it was tiresome personal responsibility isn’t Trumps its the individuals issue, he needs to make it the long haul, can he see himself through this and onto a future run, I’ve learned a lot today from this site, I really have and most of it isn’t pleasant.

You’ve said yourself that they’ve covered their sorry arses from that particular risk. That still leaves two enormous organisations that are fundamentally malignant, who have zero interest in what’s right for society or the public good and total interest in power and profit. I’d lump Bezos/Amazon into the same cesspool. You’re quite right to point out that it was naked self-interest which lead them to distance themselves from Trump, anything else they might do will be driven by that and nothing else.

It is tough to defend his insanity when his administration did help the economy improve pre Covid and he got a peace deal signed in the Middle East.
It is weird seeing good friends post this stuff, post antifa invaded the Capitol etc. They believe it. Luckily none of my friends believe in the baby eating Satanism, but millions do.
