It doesnât seem to be a great time to be an establishment politician. Peter Hitchensâ assertion that the polls are there to drive, rather than record public opinion, seems ever more accurate.
The anti-establishment vote is going to manifest itself in different ways and on opposite ends of the political spectrum. The US has moved to the right, France is moving to the right, as is Germany.
We need to be the country that moves to the left.
Thereâs long been a case that the US shouldnât be seen as a moral leader in the world, never more apparent than in the past twelve months.
Phil makes a good point - that is three votes on the trot that have been won because voters responded to promises that cannot be delivered.
Modern politics - promise what simple people want to hear, backtrack quietly, hope no one noticesâŚ
Has Mexico paid for that wall that is being built today? Are all Muslims being deported?
The next year or two would be funny if it wasnât about peopleâs lives.
Itâs a ridiclulous event in US history but Trump is not to blame - voters cannot distance themselves from the result when it goes wrong.
Trump clearly has no policy on most matters, and he cannot deliver the walls or jobs that he promisesâŚbut any intelligent person knew that when they voted.
And if someone says he appealed to people who are not listened to - now you can see why no one listens to them - theyâre a bunch of clueless kneejerk simpletons.
Shame on you America, today you have demanded the freedom to shoot yourselves in both of your big clown shoes.
The Mexicans are just wiring $500m for the wall payment, robots are being removed from all US production lines, Russia has withdrawn from Syria, and China is promising not to make any more cheap steel.

It prob goes further back that 3 votes i.e. Obama made a load of promises he couldnât deliver. There was whole documentary about it. It was on TV, and everything.
One of them was this brash asshole who just spoke his mind. He didnât really offer any solutions, he just said outrageous things. We just thought he was funny. Nobody ever thought heâd be President. It was a joke! But we just let the joke go on for too long. He kept gaining momentum, and by the time we were ready to say, âLetâs get serious now, who should really be President?â he was already being sworn into office. We werenât paying attention! We werenât paying attention!
Really? Thatâs an interesting analysis. Care to expand on that?
Have you met Bazza before?
Trump is a massive isolationist, heâll let the World burn and will quite correctly ask nations to pay their way in contributions to NATO, surely you would know Trump is inward looking and Clinton is a hawk?
This is common knowledge, Libya and Iran will be very happy this morning.
I voted for Blair and he was supposed to be the 2nd coming, he took us to an illegal war and killed 1000âs after asking God for permission, has Trump done this? Will he do it? No he wonât. As long as America doesnât get hurt Trump wonât give a shit about the World, similar in many ways to Reagan. Heâll surround himself with highly intelligent people and bask under old glory getting people to massage his ego.
