OK, can someone please explain to me the reason behind these caucauses? Is it so the people choose who to run for which party for President, sort of like an X-Factor type vote off?
Pretty much.
The primary race is basically an extremely drawn out and expensive leadership campaign.
Imagine if Corbyn, Kendall & Burnham went on the X-Factor. It’s kind of like that.
EDIT: Sorry BBB I missed the X-Factor part of your post but yeah, pretty much that.
So can any one vote for any party’s Presidential candidate or do you have to be a card carrying democrat to vote for the Democrat canidate and vice-versa?

With her money, power and influence I’d be surprised if Clinton couldn’t seal the deal. Style and ticking boxes over substance, the democrats want a woman in power, Sanders is a conviction politician and Clinton is a modern diplomat. I ts a shame but real politicians are not dying.
I corrected it for you Barry.
If real politicians still had to be on the front line when they sent the cannon fodder into battle you would probably see a lot less wars started.
Very simplistic and ask me the name of the last politician that went into battle I couldnt tell you. Not the name of a soldier that became a politician after the event.
But the world events are backing up like they did in the 1300’s the rich few held power and are sending the minions into battle for them then raking over the remnants to maximise their profits or if your on the muslim side the prophets.
Ahem
After serving as a Royal Marine and as an intelligence officer in the UK security services, Paddy Ashdown became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Yeovil from 1983 to 2001
Blasted this out only at the weekend, brilliant tune and so true.
And to answer your question World War I was the last time en masse the priveleged classes went to war with us minions, changed the class structure of politics as well. It was often stated they miles behind in French/Belgium houses getting pissed and whilst there may be truth in some of that many fought and died with their regiments and died with the commoner bravely, the Empire’s last stand as such.
It differs from state to state. Some are ‘open’ (anyone can vote, but people generally don’t), others are closed. So you’d have to be a registered Repub/Democ.
They all have their quirks, I think (going back a while here, so apologies if this is slightly off) that Iowa isn’t actually a balot type thing. It was more like a bunch of meetings where locals congregate, and then pass on their decisions?
More so the democrats in Iowa.

D_P You got it the wrong way around. A politician that became a soldier after they decided to go to war. Loads of soldiers have become politicians not a problem but not the other way around.
Somebody call the Waaaambulance
You do know as Cruz as a full time politician is only a bit less extreme than Trump, in turn this makes him far far more dangerous as he is serious?
Never said otherwise, Baz.
That doesn’t contradict my stance that Trump is a vile, odious piece of shit.
Or stop me from mocking what an idiot he is.
Big problem with making bombastic comments in the manner Trump does, it only sets you up for a bigger(/funnier) fall.
Always suspected Cruz would probably win. He’s smarter, **far ** more astuste and much more politically savvy.
As I said above, Trump has a touch of Farage about. All bluster no actual ideas. It sounds great, makes people nod but ultimately when they go to the polls, they have no idea what they’d actually get.
… These guys are scary… not sure whihc is more so. Those scary bastards standing or the fucking nut pobs voting for them…
KRG, you need to seriously study the candidates more, Cruz to me is simply fucking absolutely terrifying from the death penalty, to pro life, to right to bear arms, absolute free trade, envrionment, World views and many many more, Trump is showman and his views would be easily watered down, Cruz no way.
Would you rather have a businessman or a fundelmentalist?

Lol forever. This coming from the dude that describes Hilary as:
liberal elite yet again riding in on a white horse to save the poor and need
Also, if you had done any research, you’d no that the idea of Trump being a businessman is a myth. He’d be worth more money if he left all his inheritence in the bank. His multiple bankruptcies mean he has actually lost a fortune.
What are you rambling about? I agreed with you about Cruz (to an extent, anyway). You do seem to get awfully defensive when anyone takes a pop at Trump* (much like you do UKIP, how bizarre).
Why would I choose between those two? I’d have Bernie over all of them.
*Edit: Mistakenly wrote Cruz, when I meant Trump. Soz.
Clinton is a liberal elite.
I haven’t argued about whether Trump is a good businessman other than he is one.
I dislike Cruz more than anyone in the race to be President of the United States and I would to like Sanders, UKIP oh KRG I disliked them hugely, you are so politically naive to solely think you have to be on the right to be a European Union sceptic when its simply not true and wrong to think so.
You see above there is pretty much ruin of the mill boring known things much like what I post but you can’t and don’t want to see that as it doesn’t fit in with your belief, politically naive.
Ah look, thread about the presidency, Baz is off about the EU. How dull, it’s almost like you are a one trick pony.
The rest is just incoherent bollocks, Baz. Get called on shit, throw around some labels (but you really hate when people do that, right?).
All because you are just too illiterate to understand that by criticising Trump I am not supporting Cruz or Clinton.
